ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Hi all, first started discussion :)

Anyway I'd be glad if someone could tell me if there is any sort of skill level required in the Sydney City Bomb Squad? I hope to give it a try sometime, but I just want to make sure that I won't be holding any others back because I'm not experienced enough. I'm riding a Holesom, so it can't be taken to any extraordinary speeds or used for long standys (well, its just hard). Just so you have a basic idea, I've bombed hills at about 30mph, can do colemans/hand down slides, and im practicing stand ups (my heelside 180 is fairly solid).

If someone could direct me to the details/contacts of the sessions that would be sweet.

Cheers guys.

If you can stop, have a helmet and kneepads you'll fit right in.

Don't use mph on here bro, thats 'fish talk ;)

There is a group for them: http://www.skateboardracing.org.au/group/sydneycitybombsquad

Everyone is generally pretty friendly and happy to talk to beginners. Just find out when they are doing a mellow session rather than some bomb where everyone rocks up with a full face ;)

P.S. learn to shutdown slide if you can't already. and i'm guessing the first thing they will ask is if you have a helmet and gloves.

Thanks dude :) I'm not a beginner at all, its just that the vids that Ive seen from the crew feature some pretty hard shredding. I really hope to improve on freeriding skills, so hopefully the guys can help me out.

oh no another overly skilled grom. i dunno how you kids scrape up the time to practice! yeah buddy everythursday rain hail or gnar its on. rarely a thursday that no-one shows
The guys that started scbs a bunch of years ago sometimes release vids under the scbs name - and they can be quite high in gnar.  These members now only appear at Thursday scbs occasionally.  The current group members that meet on Thursdays vary in ability.  Sounds like you have a bunch of stuff sorted already.  It is definitely a good place for building skills and pushing yourself

idk what your on about i do longstandies on my holesom i do dh racing on my holesom ? oh and next week il be in sydney and wil come out one thursday night with scbs
there are downhill sessions and the crew that go to these are skilled and you wont know if you havnt been invited. and there are city sessions every week were everyone can come and tear the city up. no kooks. the turn out varies but there is always a crew and new faces, and the idea is to get out of your comfort zone so you step it up and learn some stuff.
haha, well I got some practice to do :p Im just saying that a stiffer deck with more concave will handle speed and slides easier. Just curious, how fast have you taken it?
