News flash "Idiots skateboard through Heysen Tunnels on South Eastern Freeway"

THREE men - including a Western Australian - caught skateboarding on the South-Eastern Freeway through the Heysen Tunnels this morning were fined $171.
The men - a 23-year-old of Kingscote, a St Morris man, 22, and a South Fremantle man, 20 - were captured on security cameras riding longboards through the Heysen Tunnels about 2am.

Police later stopped the men and issued on-the-spot fines for riding a skateboard on a road at speeds over 50 km/h, riding a skateboard at night and riding a skateboard on the freeway.

The tunnels are constantly used by hundreds of vehicles, including heavy trucks.

The misuse of roadways should be reported to the police, Constable Kynan Lang said.

"This (skatebording) is not appropriate and will be dealt with accordingly," he said.

haha RAD!
media kinda of shot themselves in the foot by using the term "Idiots" and mentioning 2am. most people will read this and think "2 am? who cares"
Keep your eyes on the news tonight guys. Dani and I have just finished with Channel 10 and are now waiting to 9 for come around. We are trying our hardest to do the right thing and can only hope that 9 and 10 help us out a little bit with the editing.

I eat small pieces of my dogs poo.
Brilliant.
thats sick! i heard about it at school this morning. heaps of people know !
what time will it be on the news ?
How did you get caught leigh? Did you go for the bonus run?
mad! :D

how fast?
According to ABC "90 kilometres per hour"
Basically the story goes...

We had Ian down from WA who was on his way to Sydney. I had just gotten back into the country. We had the whole day of rad riding and thought a good way to top it off would be a few runs down the freeway. We got 3 runs in and were going for the fourth but the police caught up to us on the push off.

The freeway has cameras along it that automatically detect a vehicle stopped on the side of the road. As we stop to get out of the car the cameras pick it up and the police are there in a flash. Along with the cameras in the tunnel, I'm surprised that the police were so slow to get there.

the run is 90 something K's an hour. It's long. It's straight. The run itself isn't the most challenging but a bit of straight speed here and there is needed sometimes.
also we skated it at 2am when there is less traffic on the road (only saw two cars and slow moving trucks). so we basically had the freeway to ourselves.
oh and dani now also eats small pieces of my dogs poo.
I know those idiots! :D

Slow news day in Adelaide,.... you guys are the most interesting thing going on. Im sure the news report will be stirring up the community against you,.... but fvck em!! You would have the lowest impact of any road users. Plus you have a very low carbon footprint. Hahahaaaaaa Go green!

Its your life and you are allowed to live it,.... at least you arent street racing 300kw cars, getting into barfights or destroying yourselves on booze.

Make sure you all tape the news. We all want to see.

Welcome back to Australia Dani. :]
Had you forgotten how over-zealous SA cops are?
baha....yeww,..so how come it was $171?....thats not your standard skating on road fine in s.a is it?
