who has connections in freshpark to get this out here!! the barrier for us getting this happening has always been the infrastructure, looks like fresh park are coming to the party here (apparently the banks on the side are certainly not to scale and will be heaps big enoutgh to carve)

Nathan. Something like this in aust' would be rad. But serriously, the Freshpark ramps are pretty sketchy.
I think we could design & build our own course, if we had the funds. Something more fluid & race friendly.
I've been making some scale model ramps, humps, banks & berms for a skatercross course, with the intention of
trying to get some interest & support for such an event in the future.
It's been a bit slow going, but i'll get some pics up when there finished.
I'll also work out some costing to build them, to see if it's a possibility.
If not we can have a finger board race on my model course. :)

Dylan, you sound like you've been to an event of this type before ?
I think there would be a few types of boards & styles of riding that could work on a couse like that.
They might need 'Skyhooks' on their boards to clear some of the jumps though.
Try to find footage of Redbull or Burning Wheels skatercross in Switzerland on utube if you can.
And remember - REAL SKATEBOARDERS SKATE EVERYTHING.
Not the current wave of popularity.

I agree it can always be better, bigger, badder, and crazier. Being the owner of Freshpark I decided to do something instead of always talking what could be, ideas and opinions don't make events, commitment does. Freshpark has commited thousands of dollars to make this happen for this Championship. No big energy drink sponsor, no giant network behind it, just hard earned money to see some all around skaters create some history during one weekend in October in Morro Bay.
All Jack and I can do is spend our money and time to try and get this off the ground. We will obviously have people that think they can do it better, and when that time comes that they do that, we will quit spending money and race their event. To say Freshpark Ramps are sketchy is just your perception of your ability on our products. I grew up riding some pretty ratty drainage ditches, but we never complained about the quality of the surface, just raved about the good times we were having. We have have plenty of people that love them and you obviously have not ridden anything we have made lately. We have even gotten good reviews from Mike Vallely, which I hold up as one of the best all around skaters to ever ride a board. He will be helping us to perfect this idea next year and thinks it is the contest of the future.
To make a course that can travel to different hills all around the world, all on the same weekends, set up and tear down in the short 1 hour time frame you have each day, their has to be some constraints and limits. Both in costs and size. We are just trying to find that happy medium. Much like BMX this can be huge for cities all over the world, and for the all around skater.
Hope this changes your mind about what we are trying to do and you join in to hep us, not put those who believe down.
We don't claim to know it all, so please send your comments and ideas in, but we do claim to know how to run a contest with over 30 years of Jack and I doing it.
Either way, fun, memories, good sk8n, and a lot of cash will be handed out on 10-10-10.

Roger, it's great to see you still in there developing new events/concepts. You're an absolute legend, unreal seeing you do this. Hope it all comes together for you and Jack.
On a side note, you showed me the helmet you had designed at the "98 X-Games, do you still have any? The design was brilliant.

Thanks man, I appreciate the respect more than you would know. With downhill now being like drifting contests, it is rare that anyone even remembers what we did pre 1999, with going over 60mph in only a thin spandex speed suit and flyaway half helmet. I don't have the molds for that carbon fiber aero helmet I did for the 1993 IOC deal in France. I gave them to the late Jarrett Ewanek to make production ones. But I still have the original in my office on the wall.
Jack and I are really going to try and put a race on in China, Australia, Europe, Canada, and the the US next year. As long as I can afford it and we can get the sponsors we will make this thing huge. I can't wait to see the technology that will come out of this. I have a couple of truck and wheel ideas up my sleeve for the future. Anyway, 1:30am here, couldn't sleep,,,,, finishing up designs for the banners on the course, need to go to bed.

There has always been a lot of talk about getting skater x race happening here in Australia with loads of skaters keen.
If you were looking to get something happening here in australia Im sure ASRA could assist in more than a small way.
I have seen some of the names on the list for this event and it is really interesting cause it seems to be bringing a lot of different styles together, slalom/downhill/park. Dave Hackett Racing Louis Pillonni awesome! Please post footage of the event!.
