We are continuing testing to get a feel of what weight child correlates to the durometer. A couple of hours ago, we had a friend's daughter on our bushings Arcane's shop. Her set up was a single kick tail mini with wedged Indy's front and rear with white bushings. They had her on the softest bushings they could find (73a) and we put her on the 45a's. The difference was stunning to the point she was now getting wheelbite.
Our bushing formula tests higher than it feels when mounted. I imagine the 45a feels more like a 40a or lower offering very little resistance to lean. Too much in fact so I switched her to a 60a which seemed like it work better for her weight and wedged setup. As I said we are still trying to come up with a correlation between rider weight and our softer bushings. Bottom line was, she was stoked to have her board finally turned like her dad's!

The first reviews are coming in for RipTides low durometer, high rebound bushings for kids and light riders of all ages.  Gary wrote:

Brad,

Got a chance to try out the 50a Cherry bushings in my son's board. He has a singlekick mini  board that 5 Points made for me. It's shaped like 80's Alva whaletail deck. It has a 12 inch wheelbase, Ace 11 trucks, and 80a 52mm Spitfire wheels. It has had White Khiro 73a bushings top and bottom on the trucks. My 4 year son who weighs about 38 pounds has been butt boarding/knee boarding around my garage. I have a 30" x 40" metal detached garage with a concrete floor that is cool for getting out and skating in when we have bad weather like we have today (tornadoes in the area).

Before with the White Khiros my son could hardly turn the board while leaning, usually tipping over trying to make a turn. He'd get frustrated after skating for a couple minutes and give up. I replaced the bottom barrel bushings with the 50a's you sent me. I left the top conical White Khiro in. Just doing a squeeze test with my hands told me that these bushings were a lot softer and would be interesting to see how my son would react to being able to turn. He started kneeboarding and I told him to lean. He was able to lean enough to complete a big circle in the garage that had him totally stoked. He kept asking me to push him and he would see how close he could get to stuff in the garage before leaning and turning to miss them. After 30 minutes I had to take him back into the house because the weather was getting worse. He's never wanted to ride his skateboard for this long.

One thing I want to say about these bushings, THEY ROCK!!! Fantastic bushings for the kids. Will you be doing any conical shaped ones? I plan on cutting down one of the barrels to make some conicals for the top bushings for his trucks.

These bushings will surprise you.  Take a look at the photo album I just posted where we took a 45a bushing, put it into a fixture and started twisting it.  We got to 1800 degrees of rotation and called it quits.  That is five full revolutions.  The album can be found at:  http://www.skateboardracing.org.au/photo/albums/torture-testing-of-...
