how about getting 1 person from their town to stand in a busy area for 1 hour with a clip board and ask passers by this one question : What do you think about skateboarders ?
get all the responses and determine what the general public thinks ... then you can make a plan to dissociate the dh scene from the general skateboarders ( cause im thinking the general response wont be about dh riders)
the media will lean towards the side THEY want , so be prepared to counter arguements from them aka_ shitloads of videos available to the public over the net with guys racin down public streets and highways (this is the 1st place media reporters will look to hang shit on you)
the net is good ... and bad ....
is there a tread already existing for my comments ? cheers

The first story in that clip was just dribble and would be forgotten by most punters in about 10mins. The second story in that clip wasn't too bad and was fairly balanced

In the first year of bathurst we had lots of that kind of coverage and we will have that again this year. There is a lot of useless shit you have to bust through like master chief and that retarded kid that feeds the birds each day after school.

There is no general negative stigma for news and skateboard its purely about whether they think the viewers will give a f#%k at that particular time

because here people tend to see skateboarding as one sport not two and skateboarding has a negative stigma attatched to it in australia i feel
