Thanks for finding that, it brings back memories of fun on oak boards with narrow trucks and crappy wheels.

That must have been close to the end of the 1st wave, that started around 1965-1968.

Couple of years after that skateboard racing was mostly non-existent.

Carnage at events like Signal Hill, and road deaths, here and in US, new skateparks, litigious lawyers, insurnace costs and the resulting lack of courage to hold events, killed it off.

There must be some lessons for the current generation, we have plenty of skateparks, and the equipment is waaay better than back then, all we need to do now is stay safe on the roads, and people with courage and committment to organise as many legal events as possible, to keep the current wave rolling on!

Special Note to Groms.....many of those racers would be grandparents by now.

and FFS get ya trucks wiggly and try slalom racing!
