Hey Conor, I hear ya...time sucks dont it! The etching colour is determined by the wood colour. If you look at my profile pic for example, the lettering outline isnt uite white, it is more a tan/bone kinda colour...this is the colour of the wood layer that I etched down into (about 1/2mm deep). The woodgrain buttboard pic is the same, only that the varnish/seal coat made the wood darker, then when I etched into it, I exposed the original wood colour again. I shall work on refining the original snakedog design for tatooing and have a more accurate price for you (again, I am guessing $50-100 but will keep you posted). I also have to say thanx for the commitment...I love doing original ideas and designs like yours...Cant wait to get it on ya decks Thanx!
Nice Conor, Now before we get too excited, ust remember that this process is hand etched with no colour in the linework. Often, people expect a pefect "computer/lazer engraved edge...Im not saying that it doesnt look good or professional, I need to be clear that this process is HAND DONE, and as such, it has a "HAND DONE" feel to it...You will notice what I am talking about if you look at the close up of the woodgrain buttboard image I posted., As for what colour your deck is, I am not too fussed...You may find that after the "tat" is etched, you may need to clear coat your board again if you are really stressed about sealing the thing. What sort of time frame are you looking at having one or both decks ready to send?
Hey Conor, thanks. I kind of figured that you intended the graphics to go between the trucks, but the reason it is best to etch without trucks is to allow my arm and hand room to get the tool at the right angle and curve for the images linework. So you are after 1 deck with a background (Im asuming that is the SLONGBOARD), and one deck ust with the snakedog?? Both these decks are "mini" size...is that correct? Sorry for all the uestions. The next thing is that I noticed in your profile you are not from Sydney...we will need to work something out for this, as I am a sydney man. Are you prepared to send the decks down or is there another alternative you had in mind?
Hey Conor, It is easier for me to "etch" when the trucks are not on. Are you making the decks yourself? Are they painted or wood grain etc? Are both decks the same design? Here are some of the latest decks I have done...
Hey Conor, costing is an interesting one...it depends on the size you wish it to be. With the snakedog though, the detail isnt too intricate, so the cost would be a little lower. Off the top of my head, the cost for engraving would be about $50-$100 per deck. Pricing is always hard to give an exact figure on at this stage, so lets keep it open as I know not every skater has billions to blow on deck graphics. This price, however, would be greater if a background was added or if more detail was reuired in the design. What size did you have in mind.
Hey Conor, Im stoked you like my work. Ive ust sketched out another "snakedog"... only more cartoon style. Once more, please don't rip it off. Let me know what you think.
Hey Conor, Top idea about the snakedog! Ive done up a quick(ish) sketch. Let me know what you think. If you want to get this tatooed on your deck, let me know. But please dont rip this image off without permision! Let me know if the style is what you had in mind...I can do more cartoon sytle if you like. I went for a more traditional style. Hope you like it.
Yeah Dude, cones are good at weekends, I'm working in a nightclub over weekends to get the travel money for the CHC sessions so I've binned my appointment book. STILL waiting for my wife's "reliable" friend to draw the ramp plans but I have cones and a few places on hills to set out a thirty cone course. Sundays is probably better for me give me a call during the day 0411270918
