Once again the crew came together for a sic day and night of riding and racing. Picked up the bus and our first rider, Gemma Holland, from the station at around 9:30 (how keen is she?) and it was back to Monkypig Central to await the crew who arrived shortly after. Had some time to kill before another pick up so with a crew of like 10 we headed off to our local for a few mellow (like it's possible with the gymps) warm ups.

Everyone was frothin for some more so on the bus it was and off to pick up Daddow. After some procrastination we headed off to our second hill for the day. The weather wasn't the best but we managed to stay ahead of it for most of the day - out of five runs we only missed one so we did pretty well. Everyone was having a great time and we had picked up a few stragglers along the way...the stoke was startin to build. After a funfilled day we headed back to base around 6 for a bit of sustanance and to await the other racers.

9pm: With all riders assembled and briefed and draws done we were off to the first hill for the night. We only had 18 (and one of them was a luger) riders this year so we had six three-rider heats. There was some really great racin on this hill (top speed of 85, give or take). It was great to have a couple of girls in the mix this year - thanks heaps for comin girls. There were a couple of guys who were haulin - Myles, Matt and Conner Young and the girls, Rat and Gemma, and Lance on his luge.

A quick warm-up run and then into the heats Pokey keep us all moving along to get us to the next track on time and with a bus this was a lot easier. We had repeated the routine and were on our way to the last track by 10pm right on time. Our last track before the final was a pesonal favorite of mine (Racetrack). Everyone had their warm-up and went flying into the darkness that is Burleigh Hill.

The final 6 was worked out, lubrication was applied and at 11:30 we were on our way to our final hill, Upsie/Downsie. Our driver Ricky (bIg ups, thanks bro) dropped us all at the top and all but the final six bombed down - was a great sight - Pokey had givin us all 20/11 glow sticks at the start of the night. Got to the bottom and we all gathered at the finish line.

At around 12:10 we heard em comin. Racing in the dead of night sounds really cool and we could hear them from a mile away only building the suspense. The boys rounded the final corner and it was anyones. They roared across the line in a blur with Matt in front and Myles managing to edge out Stephen with Jaiyden and Josh right behind and Conner on their heels. After some finish line celebrations it was back to the top for a sparkler run - damm we had some laughs then back to Central for Preso. There was only a couple of minor spills with just one in a heat.

Presentation was made to the winners with 1st Matt Pascoe $200 (thats a goonin), 2nd Myles Brochardt $100 and 3rd Stephen Daddow $50. They all got some classy stone trophies made by our resident crafstman Hammo, cheers bud.

Raddness. Great coverage of the day Jamie. Monkeypig crew have really got it happening up there.

I can't imagine anything like this happening around here. We just don't have the terrain or enough people willing to give up their time to put it together.

Might try to get up there next time.
