First Time Getting Hit By A Car

(first of all i dunno if im posting this in the right place please re-direct me if i am)

So know this is a write of passage into grom hood,i offically passed it today and wanted to share what it was like and was wondering what your first car hit was like.

Okay so im doing my slide hill practising stand ups so I can do them and show gabe next time we go skating.

and a car pulls up behind me going kinda slow, i can tell they wanna overtake so i go to move into the oncoming lane, there was no oncoming traffic.

Wrong move.

The car goes to the oncoming lane to avoid me, we go at the same time.

My leg goes under the car, i hit the ground and get draged a few meters till it stops.

I see my brand new detta under the wheel and freak the fuck out.

Tell the guy not to worry about me and to reverse straight away.

The dettas fine.

Oh and as for me, just a bad bruise on my pushing leg :( but other than that im drinking some concret and hardening the fuck up.

So what about you guys? What was your first time like?

I hit a car at high speed and have been in hospital for the last three weeks, I never want to repeat that ever.

Shit dude! Lucky kid, glad your ok to tell the tale. Someone said hand signals, it's a good idea. If the other lane is clear wave them past you and let the know that you are aware where they are. ALWAYS stay in your lane and you should be ok 99% of the time.

 

How was the driver? Hope you didn't freak him out to much.

It's obvious that if you go for a slide session and there is a car coming from any direction stop. After skating with you before Arthur you could've easily avoided that if you listened to other people and learnt to footbrake properly. KOOK!

Im not stoaked about getting hit by a car, although it may seem so, it scared the shit out of me. Enpough for me to change the way i cruse carlessly and to buy knee pads and board brite. I think it was the wake up call i needed. Its sad that it got to the stage where i needed to be hit by a car to do so, but i think when anyone starts there so stoaked at what they can do and not worry about saftey when crusing around, i was arrogent and i have learned from my mistake. I am very lucky to not be in hospital or to be seriously hurt and im thankfull for that. Im lucky i didnt go under the car. I just thought it was a pretty gnarly story to share. I could have worded it much differntly to promote saftey with the other groms and i might just do something like that. Because once you get to the point where you need to be hit by a car to make you re think saftey thats far over the line.

*newly bought detta under front tyre*

 

*guy gets out*

 

"shit man are you okay?"

 

"yeah im fine can you reverse your car"

 

*car reversed detta safe*

 

"Im sorry man i was trying to move into the other lane to let you pass, at the same time you were in the same direction, totally my fault i accept complete resposibillity"

 

"its alright man as long as your okay, you didnt go under the car did you?"

 

"i did it dragged me for a bit but not underneath it im really lucky that im fine"

 

"okay man"

 

*checks car*


"be more cafefull on the streets"


*drives off*

 

*walks over, with a brusied ego and brusied leg*

 

Kelly yeah i gotta get better at footbreaking at speed, i can do it but not straight away.

 

Thanks everyone for the advice will deffiantly use hand signalls and pull left from now on.

yep I'm all better now (almost) have been back on a board and everything seems to be ok.
