The main idea for the following photo of my mum, brother and myself was to successfully utilise techniques of Henri matisse within his painting style. The image was influenced by the portrait known as "The Green Lime", which was also produced by Matisse. I believe I was able to apply similar techniques of colour combination to create the unique texture of the painting similar to Matisse, however for the actual application of the paint to canvass was minimal in it's thickness. Henri Matisse had a unique painting style all his own. He liked to use bright and dark colours. And he used his wife as a model for many of his paintings. His subjects were largely domestic or figurative. My work is one example of bright colour used by Henri in many of his works.
