otherwise we can just keep pressing the issue and make people feel unwelcome if they dont support the same safety issues as the rest of us intelligent and progressive skaters do.
Its simple, if your reckless in regards to personal safety and the effect that has on others, people wont want to skate with u, you will not be seen as anyone important and you will be shunned from the mainstream of the community. Im not saying thats how it should be im saying thats how it already is, with the amount of safety awareness that goes on in our fine community these days thats the sort of action that automatically takes place within the longboarding scene
dan, not so long ago, there was a story on the front page of asra
it was about the premier of "Skate Australia" a movie made by an aspiring young rider....
he died whilst making the movie, though his legacy was continued.
he died going at a slow speed wearing a helmet just imagine what chances you will have if you dont wear one.....
we dont wear helmets because we're smart, but because we dont want to become stupid.....

yeh i wasnt wearing one because this was taken after school and that would be weird carrying a helmet around at school..
but if i had one with me at that time when this was taken then it would be probably on my head on this picture..
hehe
btw how did he die if he was going slow and had a helmet? if u dont mind me asking..
Dan. Your talking shit...
Strap the helmet to your bag and you wont have to carry it. Easy. Not only are helmets a good idea for safety but they also boost your confidence when learning new tricks in the same way as leathers will.
Anton's accident was a freak incident. He collided with another rider at the end of the run and the helmet he was wearing was a fairly old one and may have had existing damage on it anyway. It was a freak accident, one that effected everyone who knew him especially his parents and family. If you wont wear a helmet for yourself, wear it for the people you skate with and the ones who will have to go through the difficulties of escorting you to a hospital. Your family and friends and the rest of us who are trying to make this scene a more respected one in the community.
This year a fella died in Sweden riding to pick his daughter up from school. He was riding through a park, a route that he rode everyday. A more than capable rider but somehow managed to fall, hit his head and it was over. Bowditch from Adelaide hit his head and lost his taste for almost a year. A grommet did it earlier this year in a carpark and began seizuring, leaving his friends to call and wait for an Ambulance not knowing what was going to happen to him. Austin from Early boards has a scar and one of the gnarliest comb overs you will ever see because he chose not to wear a lid at the time.
guys, i'm just joking.
i'm making a point on the fact that everyone on here is very pro-helmet, which is not at all a bad thing.
and that it is actually rare to find someone that isn't wearing a helmet.
