yeah - that bit was tough! After this coat of epoxy, I sanded it poretty hard with a quite rough paper (120Grit) and it took it back enough to be pretty smooth

just to clarify - the first time I cut it was with a real sharp stanley knife (it's the yellow and black thing in the backgroaund of the picture) - then I sanded it hard.

Wow Deeks you are making some really good looking decks, let us know how this one rides! Also did you ever get the Bamboo project underway?

thanks DDS... Really happy with the results from the Roarockit bag.  just put epoxy on the top of this one so it'll be ready for the weekend!  mounted the hardware on it last night to get a feel for flex and such, which it had a fair bit of before the carbon/kevlar, but there was very little and I'm a portly 95kg's.

Haven't gone abywhere with the bamboo ideas yet - there seems to be a few place north of Melbourne where you can get it - I'm thinking this will be the next experiment.  thanks again.

Hey DA BEAR - I have every intention of doing so - was pissed to miss the last sessions but will keep an eye out for the next one.

hey man great lookin deck, im from vic too and ive been making decks recently, just wondering if you did the glassing by hand with a brush or some sort of tool, or if you put on the resin and chucked it in the bag?

Thanks Louis - no problems!

This one is made of 2mm Hoop pine veneer I managed to find at the annual melbourne woodworkers show late last year - I haven't been able to find it anywhere else and they guy only had enough for 1 deck :(  He was up from Tasmania apparently...  The rest of the time I use 1.5mm hoop pine ply which behaves pretty much the same in the bag.

I just applied the epoxy by hand with brushes and a 3 inch foam roller to get it even and smooth - the last coat was applied with a brush after a light sand.
