Over the weekend of November 26-28, a unique event will take place at Bathurst's Mount Panorama, Australia's leading sporting venue. Newton's Nation will welcome revelers to the mountain and play host to three days and two nights of world class downhill racing and action sports, featuring competitors from across the globe – all to the tune of some of the best bands and DJ's in the country.

Newton's Nation 2010 is Australia's premier gravity racing event. Skateboarders and lugers will compete on a 1.3 km course starting from Skyline at the top of the iconic Mt Panorama circuit, and finishing on Conrod Straight. Competitors reach speeds of over 100km/h while racing on what is one of the most intense and technical racing tracks in the world.

Alongside the extreme action Newton's will have an impressive lineup of top Australian acts over the three day festival. Featuring live rock, hip hop, dance and Indie artists on the main stage and DJ towers spread throughout the festival, you can dance, krump and mash it up from dawn till dusk. Nowhere in Australia has this combination of action sports and live music come together in such a sensory overload.

Newton's Nation is the mecca for action sport and live music, fusing music, action sports, visitor interaction and camping together to produce a truly unique Australian festival.

For more info about the festival and to buy tickets to the biggest event on the IGSA tour see the Newton's Nation Festival site. For info regarding competitor camping, access and accreditation, please read this important info.

The current IGSA rules state your age bracket for the year is the age you are as of 1st January of that calender year. So if you are under 18 years at any time during 2010 you qualify as a junior

Cheers bro!
Now i just have to work out if i can make it.

Grits,
For luge yes, for classic it may depend on numbers. Our format allows for everybody to be racing on the Saturday for final qualifying positions. First day qualifying run will seed you for Saturday, if you do not post a time you will still be attempting to gain a final qualifying spot through the racing on Saturday but your seed for Saturday will obviously be low. If you get top 2 in your first heat on Saturday than the rest of your races will determine your seed for the finals, if you lose your first round on the Saturday you will be put into the repecharge.

Dean tell your parents that given they used paypal to pay your ASRA membership then they have already provided their credit card details online. All Australian banks provide 100% protection from the fraudulent misuse of credit cards online. I'm sure they pay their power bills and other utility bills online with their credit card. Their credit card details are not being put on the web, they are being sent to the westpac bank directly by clicking submit

Our payment systems are provided by Westpac bank, they are encrypted and secure. ASRA is an Australian incorporated body that has all the normal financial services laws applied to us. We do not see or keep credit card numbers, the only people that keep record of your full credit card number is westpac bank. If they are really that paranoid about paying for something online they can call me between 11am - 4pm on 0280601588 and provide me with credit card details over the phone. You will then need to send me an email with all the questions on the normal online registration form answered in full. I will than do a manual payment on their credit card and enter your registration details into our rider lists. I would of course prefer not to do this if you can convince them other wise.

It's good to hear you're trying a new format. I have spoken to a few international riders who have said they are boycotting IGSA races as they don't agree with the format " Im boycotting IGSA races this year, as I dont agree with the race format." I added the quote from an email just coz i can. Either way i'd race. I wish we had the money and races to be in a position where could say the same but we don't and it's rad just to have a few races here. Keep up the good & hard work guys! hopefully it's even smoother and maintains it's stature as a high class event (if that is possible to top last year) By the looks of it it will kick Assssssss!

Await the format, it will be released in a few days.

Believe me no organisers at any IGSA race have contemplated the format as deeply and as long as we have. There are lots of considerations that we have had to look at. From most of the feedback we have got from riders and organisers the current IGSA format is almost universally disliked across the community. It works fine for events like Maryhill but has many negatives for organisers that can't get council approval or raise the man power to run events across 5 days.

- It dramatically reduces the total amount of runs we can give riders
- If rain occurs on the second day of a 3 day event without getting some qualifying done on the first you effectively cancel the event as the IGSA gives no provision for advance seeding therefore you cannot place 128 riders into a 64 tree
- If it rains on the finals day ASRA buries $20,000 in prize money without getting any vision of anybody racing onto TV screens to promote our sport to other kids around australia, to sponsors, and to potential promoters to join us in future events.

Just have faith that ASRA has thought of all angles on this that allows us to give as many runs on the hill as we can in the 3 days we have been allocated with as much redundancy as we can provide for rides who screw up their runs. This format will ensure a race result, without having a rain result or a cancellation which would be financially catastrophic for ASRA. You must realise that this is a race first and foremost, it is not a freeride and with IGSA regulations and a 3 day event it is not possible for us to design it like a freeride. Our race format our festival and our prize money allocation is much more progressive than any other events on the IGSA tour and is designed to encourage the best in the world to come to Australia and race. Its unfortunate but it seems that ASRA is the only event organisers that are stepping up and trying to innovate and improve these WC events. But remember we have constraints that are applied to us not by our doing and we have obligations to various stakeholders. We are just trying to create a balance where everybody wins and we continue to improve the event.

Leeso, I understand what you're saying. The format is going to be radically different this year; sit tight for more details. It'll be a first for the IGSA.

freeridding the whole first day should be a must,,,2 qualifying runs in 1 day is great, its been done before an worked quite well...we even qualified the morning of a race and worked out fine...the main thing to this race is to get as many runs as possible for the ridders to help minimise the accidents and give the competitors the time get to know the track...
i know that everyne is more worried about the spectators than the ridders which i know they pay to come in and watch but over the last couple of years getting enough runs down the hill has been a big issue..we wont keep getting the internationals paying to fly to an event that you get the least riding...its the shortest track on the world cup and the least runs????
i know you say it would be boring sitting around the second day but we get to ride alot on the first day with no pressure of having to qualify after 4 or 5 runs....i know that most of the ridders would want the fisrt day to practice on such a gnar hill but it seems we are focused on the spectators,, so lets hope the meat wagon is free to make pick ups again...
