ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

I have searched and read countless silverfish posts and i have searched asra,

i have searched google, stared at mischo and kevin at teutonia (probs spelt wrong)

So far the most interesting comprehensive thing i have found on google has been about dh skiing tuck.

and a fluid dynamics study of different aero helmets airflow. In this study it said that the leg position is responsible for most drag in a skaters tuck.

http://www.silverfishlongboarding.com/forum/longboard-speedboarding...

So my question is for real skaters and members what leg position is best.

1. back knee mid front calf

2. back knee up behind the front knee.

3. or down around the achillies tendon of the front leg.

Or is it all about the straight back.

Any specific tips to improving my tuck.

I guess i am keen to know as i have been smashing some training, indoboard and wobble board style and i want to make it worthwhile with the best technique.

Yes i know you probs wanna say go skate, get off the computer, but im at work dreaming of skating, thinking about my training and im not a 15 year old with heaps of spare time to practice.

forget about where the best spot for your leg is, just think TIGHT... people have different body positions and therefore different tucks. because one style works for one wont mean it will work for you. I wish i could tuck like Mischo (very close stance, back foot nearly flat, high legs, bubble style) but i dont bend that way. i would try and tuck like Dalua and hold the front of my board to bring my chest into my leg but i cant balance the same way as him as he rides with a different style (back foot always on the toes, long stance)

You need to just keep everything STRAIGHT... back needs to be straight. where ever you put your knee into your front leg make sure it sits STRAIGHT. keep that chest in and close the gaps.

Now given that, there are many different styles of tucks you can do, many holes you can close to go faster and all that sort of stuff, but the one thing you need more than anything else is balance...

If you can hold your tuck straight, still, and solid, you will go faster than the person that cant keep their board in a straight line.

Some person might have a MEGA tuck and look fully badass, but in a straight line his/her board could be slightly veering left to right, not taking the straightest line. That would totally eliminate any epic tuck action they would be possessing...

Just think about what feels comfortable for YOU. where you put your knee into your front leg is up to your body position and stance, but in the end the only way to improve your tuck is balance and practice

So keep wobbling undoing and skating hey. Thanks man.
