hey guys,
i was looking to build a board, sorta like a vision hippie stick (chode with a kick).FIRST TIME.

i wanna know how to build a press?

how many ply?

what type of wood or material?

how to make a kick?

how to make it stiff?

and anything else, sorry guys if this is to much. i'm just keen for making it?
any ideas? or photos?

thanks heaps.

Mate you need to read all the posts on here. every question you asked i asked, you just have to start at the first page and troll through it. i don't know the board you talk about but there are links to videos detailed descriptions photos other sites to look at they are all there. If you want less flex go 1.5 mm ply 8-9 layers and get the best glue you can, Titebond 2 or 3 or a selly's product called durabond. I have heard about epoxy glue but you have to work fast, i tried it but ended up splashing it in my eye and having to go to hospital. look on the message posts on my page as steve left a website there for finding titebond glue. you will have to go to see all as it was a while ago.
hey ian,

im making a short tharsh board too, 34x9.25" its shaped like a bomb with a kick haha
There are many different presses around, ghetto, dimm, etc, I have a toothless press tho, you can see it in my pics.
i use 3mm ply (1200x900mm sheets for about $10 at bunnigs) and for this board i cut it up into 5 sheets. Im a big bloke so I make more boards extra stiff.
For most of my presses i use fibre glass as an inlay between sheets of ply, but you really should avoid epoxy and fibre glass if you dont know how to use it. Doing this gives it about 9 layers and has no flex. Another way to go around it is to just use layers of ply and glue between each layer. For stffness its just in the layers of ply and the concave and camber (concave;curve between the width, camber; is curve between the length). Camber is very difficult to work with, you would really only use it if you wanted a flexy board that flattens out when you stand on it, just experiment with ply cut offs(scrap pieces) and just check the stiffness. Whenever i want to make kicks i just put a triange wedge inbetween the board and the press which just pushes the board down to for the kick.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Alex.
