ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Hello,

I am making my first board ever. I am thinking of using wood that is 1.5mm - 3mm thick and is Hoop pine ply, I am wondering how many ply I should use to make a fully solid deck for DH and freeriding which is 35-37" long and 10" wide. I am thinking of putting a layer of Fibreglassing or Carbon fibre in the middle of the board to make it solid. I am also wondering what glue to use...most people have told me to use titebond 3. And i am also wondering if I should make 2 seperate plys of wood and put in press the after they have both dried and put glass or CF in the middle. Also how am i meant to stick the 2 plys of wood together with the glass or CF in the middle.

1 more thing, how and what are the best way to put graphics on the bottom or the board?

I dont know how and what press to use. a normal wood one or vacuum press. I dont know how the vacuum press works. I am making a speedboard.

Also what fibreglass should i use and what resin or epoxy should i use?Or CF

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Also any tips and step by step instructions is also very appreciated.

Sorry for alll the questions and thanks for your help.

never use cf or fiberglass in the middle

it it does nothing for the structure there

top and bottom are where you want it

do some reading mate,

this has been said loooooots

silverfish boardbuilding forums are good

think you have a bit more research to go...

As Matthys said if you are using fibreglass put it top and bottom not in the middle

do a search on the fish and you will find the answer to every question you asked....
