you dont want gumballs... trust me they suck. worst wheels ever. they were great when they came out but that was back in the stone age.

ive got 2 sets of wheels for sale, one set used one set good to go - $80, bloody bargain

That was my first set of trucks/wheels and I would recommend them. I haven't ridden holeys but those randals are 50 degrees and I absolutely love them. Also I really like the 84a gumballs. Jacko, I don't know what your talking about :P I broke mine in and they are a pretty good sliding wheel, but still pretty grippy. I like them because I can shed heaps of speed quickly but still throw some nice and smooth slides. Mind you, I have only ever ridden them, bigzigs and durians so I'm no expert. Thats my two cents though

an older urethane that is no good.
they were good ages ago, things got better, they didnt miraculously improve by themselves. i have ridden gumballs, bigzigs,zigzags,3dm,abec 11 strikerz, inheats, durians, stims and 4prez and gumballs are just on a different level i feel. they slide very chattery compared to my now 65mm durians which are smooth.

It is personal opinooin though i guess.

Classic thane is awesome. Its just the shape that kinda sucks.

gumballs are fun once worn down a bit though IMO
when they first came out they were top of the line. the only other wheels you really had where the stock standard longboard wheels you got on every day cruisers which were small slow and used for just general cruising. back then people didnt do the sort of sliding people do now, and the only other wheel available for 'downhill' (racing) were flywheels or maybe some seismics or something, i dunno. either way, they were all designed for grip and no one knew how to pull crazy stand-up style slides and 90km/h speed checks and re-grip for smooth lines.

urethane compounds since then have changed to accomodate these style, leaving and old formula (such as the gumballs) in the dust. so now after riding such epic wheels (like o-tang and the likes) trying a set of gumballs feels slow, chattery to slide and sloppy on the energy return with carving and pumping.

all in all a wheels a wheel and they all spin, and its not like they are the worst wheels in the world, theres just MANY better options out there. Cadilac wheels were epic back in their day, but would you stick some of them on your longboard now and go slashing around?
haha I have gumballs at the moment, brother wants to upgrade his board to some bigger trucks and wheels (oh yeah and bearings). I haven't ridden any other wheels but I agree with Jack, I can slide the gumballs when I want but still grip pretty nicely.

Jacko I'm thinking about getting your wheels, got any bearings? I just realised it's jack and jacko lol
sure i can put some bearings in them for ya. if your interested just send me a PM and we can sort it out

classic ABEC11 thane in 78A or 81A slides and drifts like none other, not slow either
the gumball shape might be outdated but the thane sure isn't
