Women only sponsorship deal
It is the World Championships at Newton's Playground this year. Late November a new IGSA World Champion will be crowned. Ladies, here is your chance to be a World Champiion. All you have to do is win one race ... and maybe place in a heat or qualifier.
Hopkin Racing wants to find a woman to represent Australia at Newtons Playground. Put Australia on the map. It is us against them. Your country needs you. I do not think many women are reading these pages, so I also need everyone on this website to be on the look out for a skater chick. How perfect is that - this is your chance to legitimately go up to, introduce yourself and talk to that awesome skater girl at your local skatepark. No excuses - DO IT.
Here's the deal.
Standup only. Sorry no luge or inline, bikes etc.
They have to be Australian or have Australian citizenship and skate as an Australian. At the end of the day, that is what it is all about.
The lady needs to be minimum 16 years old. If she is 16, I need to speak to her parents.
Ideally she is 18 or older. No age limit.
She has to have been skateboarding for at least 4 years. Less if she is gifted. I really want someone that has grown up on a skateboard. It does not matter if she has never been on a longboard, if she can hold her own at the skatepark with the boys, I'm interested.
I need this person to train to race on Mount Panorama. Scary but true. Not that hard, if they are good on a skateboard, but they will need to have no fear.
She will need to be able to join a crew or be part of a group that skates regularly. Ideally once a week.
What does she get?
Full race setup. A starter board to see if likes the sport. This can be upgraded to a better board later. I will endeavour to upgrade all her gear, trucks, wheels, bearings etc. She gets a generic set of leathers. If she races at Newton's she gets a set of njs leathers. Full race set up includes safety gear, gloves helmet.
I know what you are thinking. I'll get my girlfriend to apply and I'll get the gear when she quits. Think again. I am not handing out race gear to everyone. I will pick one person. Actually I do not think I will find anyone so please, ladies, prove me wrong.
Finders fee? If someone on asra finds me a suitable person to sponsor, and they are not related or in a relationship. They get rewarded. I have not decide on what that is but I will be very happy to find someone to competitively represent ASRA and Australia. The reward could easily be a dream setup.

wot a coincidence, just about to take a group of girls to the dh track in Auckland for a session with Lynn Kramer, will post some photos tomorrow. Its true this sport needs more women. Something special about a lady in leather doing 65kph+ on a board.

She could be like Russell Crowe, born and raised in NZ 100% Australian Owned. It doesn't matter if she has a funny accent on the victory podium all the OS media will just think she's Australian anyway... we'll just have to stop her from saying "choice bro" you will just have to put that in her contract Hop under Section 11: words not to say lol

Hop, I may yet give the mountain a go...have been spending time with Bugs sliding (so much fun), and am currently working on footbraking with both feet and at higher speeds.
But maybe I won't be ready until 2010 as my life is super busy with lots of equally important tasks on the run at one time (ie. art practice, counselling studies, work, developing my che, working on my super powers, practicing nun chuck skills). Thus I may not make it on runs every week. If and when I get good you can back sponsor me if you like...payment - a car, I've been thinking I'd like a car, sky blue or lemon yellow with venetians please.
A great candidate could be Baz's daughter...very good on short boards. But after a very serious stack last year she's had to hang up her Vans for a while. She may be a great candidate to develop for the next year. She's young, great skater and pretty gutsy. But of course you would have to get Baz's permission first...later

Your still our number one skate diva. No pressure on doing the mountain, that is a big ask. You want to make sure you are ready. Do you still want your own all male cheerleading squad, dressed in tight shorts, no shirts and cheering you on at the top every hill you race?

Lynn is in New Zealand? Can you ask if she coming to Australia while she is down here?
It would be fun to have her at Conehead Cup 3 in Melbourne.

There will be a junior category at Newton's. Unlikely a junior race but definitely a category. So if there are junior riders, there will be a champion based on times or placings.

there is a girl that rides with us over here in perth. awesome rider, no fear and is hitting around the 80 k/hr mark on some of our runs. her name is tara or taz i fully feel confident in saying she could be the girl your looking for. if your keen i can gather some footage and post it.
