In order of importance what protective gear is needed for down hilling and free skating?

obviously a helmet is the number one thing for anythng... but what should i look at spending my money on after that?

gloves for sure,......

yeah bro, get a good set of gloves and pads
also, skate safe, work on the fundamentals like foot breaking, carving off speed etc, you should always be in control of what you're doing and how fast you're going.
meet up with crew and shread man!
oh, and don't listen to people telling you you need precision trucks.....

alrite so ill get helmet first, knee pads, slide gloves. any recommended brands?

Alrite man thanks for that. i was thinking about getting lyk 1 of those package things off hopkin, but i cud get it all cheaper if i bought different stuff seperately. ALSO do u think footbreak soles are essental?

ironically enuf those are the two sets of gloves i was looking at on hopkin and boardshop

dude, the more skin you cover, the less it hurts when you fall.
if you're new to longboard, i'd say get as much protection as you can,
there's no way to learn this sport without taking hits, you will fall a lot.
use your noggin, go skate.

Ive scraped my elbows more then a few times!!!
Pro-tec pads are for riding bowls, 187 flys are the only pads for this kind of shit
