"Congradulations for passing the first stage of Army enlistment now you'll have around 2-3 months before we take u to kapooka but in that time we strongly discourage you to do any of your Downhill Skateboarding". and my reaction......"SAY WHAT YOU F#$% &^$^@!!!!!!".

Pretty sure Obama said if we stop downhill skating the terrorists win

Strongly discourage... that's hinting at 'don't do it or you will be kicked in the guts' but not said outright... do it anyway!

Who said that to you by the way? Squad leader, enlistment officer?

You live around 'Da Valla fella & you are just beginning to make some nice decks! I Strongly discourage you joining any of our armed forces....though it would be nice to get paid to blow shit up!

why do you want to be in the army?

read above im i get paid 60k first year the job is a combat role multi skill job what more could you want? a job that has a high chance of being fatal guns explosives need i say more?

There just worried about there future investment. Keep skating and if you have a bingle just blame it on the piss. Army loves beers .
When you join the Australian Army you pretty much know that you're not going to be defending Australia but waging expansionist wars for the US.

So I can't even say "good luck".

i totally agree bugs were americas bitch just one of my dislikes for them...grrrrr. 99% of them dont even know that it was them who supplied Osama Bin Larden and Alquida with the training and weapons during the Gulf War and thye're all goin "where do they get this stuff, who taught them that?" they have no idea that they gave the 911 attackers with all the knowledge they needed to pull it off.

60k to be in a combat role? best of luck dude but I can think of a lot better career choices if money is the selling point. become a shotfirer in the mines and you can blow bigger shit up for more money without being shot by "friendly" fire performing your job

money is one thing but i get cert 3 in explosives, truck licences, cert 3 in aircrft refuelling, cert 3 in aircraft arming so after 6 years i'll have plenty of job oportunities....
thanks mate

Go for it, there is no higher honor than serving your country. Forget all the BS about the US and the US Haters, you are what they call a political pawn, the Aussie Govt. decide where and when they use you, and for that they look after you. They will train you for war, peace keeping duties, and humanitarian relief duties, pay you, help you with buying a property, pay for any higher education that is of use to your job within the Army.

They probably don't want you turning up injured for basic training, that is why they would discourage you from skating, to be honest you need to be on your game to get thru' basic and any injury will not help.

You will find no better mateship than in the armed forces, you live, breath and learn to fight with each other for the common good.

If I had my time again I would join up straight away, again. BTW keep on skating.

I'm trying not to be a dick here, but generalisations like these don't go over well with a lot of people, particularly those in the armed forces. Try reading up on the issues and understanding why America is seen the way it is, and why these conflicts occur.

With that said, good luck, and like Bastard said, they don't want you injured. Basic training ain't all that basic. I know several guys who have gone through it, and though I'm not going to pretend I know much about it, it's fucking hard.
