Thanks for the suggestions Ross. It was a crowded schedule at 08, a lot depends on how much track time we can get.

Always looking for suggestions Ross. As the event is an IGSA world Cup, track time is first allocated to scheduled IGSA events. As much time as is required or is possible is first allocated to the IGSA events, to mix up the schedule and provide further entertainment we allocate middle time to demonstration sports. This time is absolutely contingent on where we are at in any given moment with the on-time running of the IGSA event schedule.
We would like to expose as many gravity sports to the public as possible and allow as many people (particularly Australians) the opportunity to ride whatever they like down the Bathurst track, but these will only be short demonstrations as track time is always very limited.
Given that Bathurst 09 is slated as the World Championships next year it is possible that we could have upto 300 IGSA competitors which would triple the amount from last year so track time will be at a premium. In saying that we have looked at increasing the amount of open practice for next years event to give more people the opportunity to run the mountain and allow us more breathing space for the event schedule.
Over the coming months we will look at what demonstration sports we can cater for during the race week. It would assist a disciplines cause if they could provide us with possible numbers that would like to participate in a particular demonstration - the greater the number the better the chance of being selected as a demonstration sport.
In relation to BMX, they are well catered for on top of the mountain already, but are not within our jurisdiction. If your talking about BMX on bitumen it is unlikely to happen. Billycarts are a chance but only of the 100km/h version which I assume you are talking about, but once again the more numbers you can give us the easier it is for us to justify running a discipline.

As you said Robbo, there might be as many as 300 IGSA riders trying to qualify for the World Championships. At this stage, how many qualifying slots will be up for grabs,ie, 32 or 64 or more? Cheers.....

300 would be everyone in total, standup street luge buttboard inline and gravity bike all together. you'd get 32 or 64 for each class

Likely to be 64 or 96 in skateboard 32 in luge 32 buttboard. Total numbers and therefore tree size can not be determined until closer to the event, 64 would be as 4 man heats 96 as 6 man heats, although 6 per heat may to too hectic on the short Bathurst track. As I said earlier an expanded practice and qualifying will allow us to be a bit more flexible on total numbers.

I should of been clearer, Jacko, as I meant 300 in total including cross-overs. Just a thought, but bearing track size in mind, if it's a 32 feild in Luge and Classic, and depending on time frame, possibly run Dual and Mass. Super Mass may be too big for Bathurst. I know it's a premature conversation, guys, but was just curious. Thanks for replying. Cheers.

Good Question, At this stage I would say not likely, however we would always look to give juniors some demo track time if at all possible and possibly some additional prizes and recognition as the highest placed junior if they enter the main event. The track is a relatively fast and high level so its not likely many juniors would race it at over 100kmp/h

Maybe not the right place to ask but im going to anyway.
How does someone like myself participate in the race itself, I understand there will be free track time so I will get a chance to roll but as for the event, do I have to race in a qualifyer such as Mary Hill or Danger bay or can I just rock up and race. I imagine there being a fair bit of paper work to fill out and specific things for my board.

likely be first in first served. You would have to register yourself for insurance purposes and your equipment for safety purposes. Equipment will have to be of IGSA standard see IGSA rules

Cheers for that Robbo, that was quite the print job. About half of Tassies forests just came out of my printer I reckon. Maximum amount of competitors for the race (standup)??

Likely to be 64 for standup. It is very hard to make accurate projections on rider numbers but we could have 150 standup and qualify the top 64. This would happen with 1-2 full days open practice followed by 2 half days open practice with 1 qual run held on each afternoon of the 3rd and 4th day. All racing would be on day 5. In the event we only get 4 days than day 1 would drop off.
So in the event you do not qualify you would still be riding the hill for 4 days. While absolutely nothing is finalised at this stage the possibility of running 96 in 6 man heats is still there. We will look at these options in the coming months.
