I've got a few questions about slide gloves.

Firstly, i'm making my own pair, i've got all my pactene cut out for pucks, i have shoe goo to stick the velcro down to the glove...but no velcro, so does anyone know where i could get some industrial strength velcro from? like, what stores?

Also, I was thinking, if i kill these gloves, maybe i might buy a pair of triple 8, or loaded or something, and then put either, my own pucks or some different delrin pucks on them (or similar)

so i was just wondering, from personal experience, what's the most comfortable glove (slide or just stock standard) that you've had?

thanks,

Dale

Hi Dale,
The first thing i got told was don't worry about anything else just stick the puck straight onto the glove. I experimented a couple of times with different materials and ways of attaching the puck. Got curious and bought a pair of landy gloves and after all that i'm going back to what i was first told, and making a set of riggers gloves with the puck glued straight onto it. Buying gloves can be a waste of time if you don't keep your finger tips up.

For the $15 dollar gloves and $2 buck nylon cutting board at Vinny's you can't go wrong. From my limited experience the gloves never last as long as the puck anyway.

Oh one bonus about the landy gloves...They are the only gloves I've ever found big enough to comfortably fit my hands, they also have a wrist strap to help keep them on your hand, and reinforced finger tips

Hope that helps, guess this is one of those 'Keep It Simple' moments
thanks man, yeah, i've just got some like...$8 riggers gloves, they seemed pretty ok, i'm just starting out so i wont be abusing to badly, as for pucks, i started telling my dad about what sliders are made out of and he's like "i have just the thing" he went into his garage and grabbed me a foot by foot piece of UHMW-PE so that's what i'm using.

As for glueing straight onto the glove, do i just sand the pucks or score them with something to get a rough finish then shoe goo them straight on?

Thanks

Sounds like you've got everything you need then, scoring them probably isn't a bad idea, but i never did the first time around and they've held held together ok.

I'd like to know exactly what glue's people have used and found the best if anyone's got any tips, as well that they can include in their posts
staple gun...hmm, that's a good idea, i just shoe goo'd my thumb and palm puck onto my gloves, i'll wait 'till tomorrow when i get home from school to put the finger one on, i was wondering, what would be better, 4 finger pucks, 2 finger pucks or a finger bar? what kind do you guys prefer? which is more comfortable?

Thanks

Im not a fan of 4 finger pucks.
Personally I like a palm puck only with no finger or thumb pucks but the problem is you do sometimes accidentally put your fingers down and it wears away your gloves, I just put some epoxy on the fingertips.

If you want pucks i would probably do a bar Velcro'd on (so you can pull it off when you dont want it on) and maybe a thumb puck

you can get velcro from bunnings, get the proper velcro branded stuff.

cheers man, yeah, i've glued my palm and thumb puck on, so i'll go down tomorrow and get some velcro from my local bunnings and put my finger bar on then. hopefully my board'll be here tomorrow aswell xD

board + wheels cleared sydney customs at 12pm today xD trucks and bearings are coming from boardshop, should have them sometime soon. so pumped =D
I have heard of people using a piece of leather off a belt to stick on there thumb so it's not bulcky but it will not wear down your finger tip of the glove as quick.
duct tape the fingers. works for me.
