I am a noob for longboarding. I am come from the country that longboard doesn't exist. I am trying to understand the pumping motion. But I don't get it yet. I did search many videos from YouTube. But none of them explain anything about it. I guess it should be something easy.
How do upper body, arms, hip correspond with legs?
It feels like your twist the board like a S curve motion, doesn't it?
Can I pump any longboard? Or just only old school top mount trucks?

Thanks you guys for guide me.
I know it s kind of silly question. But I want to do it right. :-)

you can pump just about anything, though (generally) the longer the wheelbase ect the faster you need to go initaily to feel its effects. that article seems to explain it pretty well, but its pretty much a learn by feel kinda thing, you know your doing it right when it feels right
topmounts are heaps easier to pump. also some reboundy bushings help but you dont essentially need either it would just help.
nice board bro
also look at Pavedwave
On a short board like a slalom board the best motion I found to begin with is kind of like running sideways on your board so your front and back foot move opposite to each other. Once you get some bite and feel some forward propulsion you can refine your technique. Similar on a longer board but to pump well you need loose front trucks.
Spot on Marek,
Tight rear truck and loose front truck = Power Pump!

Also, bend your knees when you turn. Not just your ankles.
