ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Received my first ever fine for skating today from babinda police !
those that know where i live will have a good laugh ,( between the pub & servo )
i had just set up a new slalom board to test & being sunday & living in the middle of nowhere ,population 100 skaters 1
i desided to test it in the breakdown lane in town ( 1 pub , 1 servo & a post office ) yes it is a big town . next thing you know im getting run into the gutter with lights blazing
I was asked what i was doing ? i said skateboarding & told the officer that it was the only smooth road for 30km, she took my licence & backup was called ( yes 3 officers 2 cars ) lol
after 25 minutes of searching for something to fine me for , I informed them of the REC vehicle law they were looking for to save time . 2 minutes later i got my fine ( while trying not to laugh ) .
it seems that riding a slalom board is a dangerous crime in FNQ
? is it the wheelbase ?

You have to watch out for those outlaw slalom skater gangs these days lol

The question is.
"Is this lack of clarity and vaigeness working in our favour or not?"
If they do lay down the law and set new rules in concrete, will this include the total banning of skateboarding on any road with the history of recent events including 2 fatalities over the last few years and the speedboarder on youtube fiasco.
I think the current system stinks how cyclist are allowed and skaters get harrassed. But until such time where skaters get a better reputation with the general brainless public, we aren't going to have much of a say to save what rights we still have.
The otherside of it is.
If they do totally ban skateboarding on roads, then the public outcry to facilitate riders might force authorities to make public riding courses like the luge track in NZ.
Maybe if we start a media storm over this topic we could perhaps generate some publicity to shine the light on our current need to open more eyes.

It's a double sided blade. It might help us or might dig us under.
after 24 years as a sponsored skater i still cannot figure out the rules / law for roads ( vert is simple " don't slam " ) lol
rode milla milla & Palmerston yesterday they just re-surfaced the road of the hwy there . Kuranda is amazing but high traffic at times .have a look at them on google earth

Hi Grits. It's C-C-C Carl here.

Just getting into longboarding. I came out with you guys once to Mt Stuart a few weeks ago. That grade looks a bit beyond me at the moment. And I'm still accumulating safety gear.

I had a go of Clay's buttboard at Yarrawonga a few weeks back. And had a play on his wefunk. This has given me a taste of speed and I'd like to do some more. Just trying to fit things in between Fly-In Fly-Out is a bit tricky.

I'll catch up to you at BTB in a few weeks.
