I was riding around town my good old Vanguard today (digesting Christmas lunch...) and I thought I should really get a new commuter.
The two things I would like to improve with a new deck:
1) shorter wheelbase - carving radius is waaaaay too big even the loosest 50* Randals
2) closer to the ground - to make my knees happy
Browsing around, the Rayne Timeline and LY Carbon Mummy caught my eye.
Any opinions / recommendations on these or others similar decks?
Thanks, and happy Christmas :-)

Hey man, I got the Carbon mummy today, its a rad board and carves like a dream.
Ive got it set up with bear 852's and yellow stimulus and its a smooth ride.
It has enough flex that you kinda sink into your push, which makes it feel really stable.
I was contemplaiting the timeline, firstly because the graphic looks sweet, and the concave looks pretty fun, but ended up going for the mummy and I am completely satisfied.
This LY video with Yatesy shredding the mummy, had a major influence on my final decision haha

I swear to God when I read this I thought it said 'on the market for a new computer" haha.
Rayne Timeline looks awesome, or how about a Bustin? They look sweet.

Yeah i was asking the same question. I was getting the board as a complete from creative, and I already have free-rides and stuff sitting round, so I was keen to experiment with harder wheels.
Im pretty happy with the yellow stims, being pretty flexy I thought the board would be a bit harder to slide, so I decided go for the 86a's, so if i do want to throw checks or some light lay back slides, it wouldnt be too much of a mission.
Being a tight carver I reckon the wheels keep their traction, unless your throwing massive wide carves and really pushing the board hard into turns, I cant see the stims slipping too much.

Hey Jake, I was thinking about the yellow Stims too, but aren't they a little bit too icey on a short turny board?
yeah I did look into it a bit... I have heard mixed reviews on the quality and customer care, but hey, you will be our beta tester :-)
Side note on Bustin: I'm not a fan of the image of skating they project in their videos.
Anyway, the Maestro DOES look sick indeed, hope you have a blast with it!

i got a bustin maestro for Xmas. would make an awsome commuter few inches shorter than a vanguard, dorp through so nice and low. good flex. but not quite the same level as a vanguard or other bamboo boards. should look in to it.
