ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Hey,

I found a good one piece leather at Hi Side Leathers today that fitted me with a bit of space to grow in. For downhill is one piece better then two piece or vice versa or is it mostly preferential?

Cheers guys

For your first set of leathers I don't think it makes much difference. Most people ride one-piece leathers. All the high-end custom jobs are one-piece.

A bit of space to grow into will mean they're less aerodynamic (which probably isn't a big deal unless you're trying to win races) and may make them a bit less protective as your body sliding around within the leathers (instead of the leathers sliding along the road) can rip some skin off. But if you're still growing I can understand wanting some growth room.

There's quite a bit of discussion about leathers already on this site: http://www.skateboardracing.org.au/forum/topic/search?q=leathers
Sorry, I didn't see those other threads. Thanks Bugs.
hey man im thinkin of going to hi side in the next couple of days what was the average price of there secondhand leathers
man, they will range from 150 bucks to 700+

best bet is to go in, and try on everything around your size
Most of the second hand leathers (one and two piece) there that I was trying on were between $300 and $400 but Phil is a really good guy so maybe you might get something for a bit cheaper. He also seems to know heaps about downhill skateboarding.
hahahhahaha

i think its more that he likes to think he knows alot about everything! cant get that dude to stop talking :D
