he's off..

is there anyway to avoid them in the future or does it just happen with standups

it just happens, if they get flatspotted just do big fast pendys and dont hold them at 90, it will get rid of the flatspots after a while

What wheels have you been using? Some freeride wheels' thane like abec 11 classic formula rubs off quite easily (giving that buttery slide) so if you do a big standy and hold it at 90deg to the direction you're travelling, you're more susceptible to getting flatspots because it's the same are of the wheels getting worn down during the duration of that slide. Doing rotating slides/standys like 180s or colemans dont develop flatspots because the wheel is rotating during the slide, giving more even wear. Iim not saying give up on huge standies, because I think theres a certain technique to avoid flatspots.

Anyway, just coleman the heck out of your wheels until theyre round again.

thanks

When pulling standies, try having your board on an angle rather than straight where you are going.  As Alex said, 90 degree angle will make your wheels rub in the one spot.

If you can, just take it a little past that point before bringing it back, or keep the board moving back and forth.

alternatively, pull them all the way around until you are riding switch, then bring it back.

went out this arvo sounds a bit better but seems like it may take a while haha
