What are you guys running as far as freeride wheels go?

Rounded edges or square or combinations of both,?

I have a few sets of wheels Ive been playing with, speed vents, blast waves and some Kryps.  I find the more rounded edges let go suddenly and the speed vents resist sliding so at this stage have settled on the blast waves.

Does anyone modify their wheel edges?

I know these questions are subjective to rider style, terrian etc, really just fishing to see what you guys are running.

Landy Mini Monsters
Krypto's, Landy Hawgs, Gravity Fu Manchu (all basically the same wheels)
Hey Ash, they seem to have a similar edge to the speedvents.

I reckon this is just a case of keep playing around with what i have till I find what I like best.

I have some short 100M steepish hills around home and have set up my chinook with loose R 180's and am enjoying doing some drifts and carving on the bigger board
i use durians because thats all i have.
it seems to me freeride wheels are round edges like ash said. and race wheels are sharp or square edges like zigs or 4president?
just guessing that the square or pointy edges grip better which is why people race them and round edges let go easier so people like them for freeriding and sliding. just my 2c
is fun playing around, reminds me of the good old days when we only skated on the streets and emulated the bertleman/z boy school of skating.

The longer board takes a bit of getting used to, i was playing around on a 35" board trying some sliding but the roads in my area are fairly rough and the longer board, softer wheels is great fun, always having ridden board with a kicktail is something new also
Jack has got it in one there, sharper edges give u more grip and rounder edges break out easier, also a harder duro will help with sliding. keep in mind that you can round out sharp edges with plenty of sliding! a nice broken in set of 4-pres or in heats slide just as good as free-rides, same thane, different shape!
All wheels have different characteristics as far as grip and slide go, it all depends on the urethane formula and the core depth and all that sort of jazz, landy wheels and o-tang wheels have been known for predictable smooth sliding so if you want to experiment with them im sure you'd have fun, but all wheels slide. if you dont want to go through wheels every month just get a set of durable wheels like seismic speed vents or bigzigz/zig zags and just keep sliding them till theres nothing left (which will take u a while) but they take a longer time to break in until they get that nice slide, before they they feel kinda chattery
hey jacko, I notice a distinct difference from the speed vents to the blastwaves, just have to decide which i best like the feel off, the vents give more confidence at a faster pace around corners although the blastwaves drift nice also.

I am really enjoying the chinook now i have it set up more as a carver with R 180's, was running it with 1st gen Smokies and it was a bit cumbersome, am loving it now.
