All the prices above are for boards with a plain paint finish, your choice of colour

Add $30 for a texalium (silver fibreglass) finish on the base

Add $40 for a carbon fibre finish on the base

Other finishes include laminex, top and bottom, this is a very durable finish and is done in the pressing stage of construction.  Lastly we offer a dyed timber finish ( think bright colours with a super glossy finish ). Contact us to discuss these last two options if your interested.

                                                                          Foamies

Ultra lightweight, ultra stiff and ultra responsive. Fat pigeon foam cores are designed to take your skating to the next level.  We use a blend of Carbon fibre, fibreglass, high density Divinycell foam and Hoop pine. All Fat pigeon foam cores feature hardwood truck mounts and the topmounts are also constructed with an underflush truck mount, effectively lowering the board slightly.  Available in many board shapes and sizes. These are highly customizable to suit your style.

We have a few different methods of construction that we use. Some focus on being ultra light weight, others whilst still being light, focus more on durability and impact resistance. Prices start from $450 for your basic cap construction top mount ( see pics below ) and go up from there depending on your prefered construction method. Contact us for more details.

Coming Soon

This year we are planning to add a Fat Pigeon mini to the line up. At this stage its going to be 29” - 30” long with a small nose and kick tail. Stay tuned....

Drop decks. Last year we had many requests for drop decks. Although we can build drop decks at the moment, we can’t do so at a price that is competitive with other board manufacturers. We are hoping to rectify this situation with the construction of a brand new heavy duty industrial press. We expect this to happen in the first half of this year. Look out for a ½” and a 1” drop deck later in the year

Also coming soon is some machinery to upgrade our workshop. This will help us pump out more awesomeness whilst still keeping that Fat pigeon quality

Construction

All our timber boards are actually not just constructed of timber. We use a blend of hoop pine ply and composites - Carbon fibre and/or Fibreglass. This is not just any fibreglass, we use a selection of uniaxials and multiaxials. This results in a board that is light ,stiff, responsive and durable. It also lets us dial in the exact amount of flex required for each board and lets us eradicate torsional flex. Its a unique blend, the composites provide the stiffness and responsiveness whilst the natural hoop pine provides the structure and dampening from the road vibrations. All our boards are pressed with a high quality epoxy resin and/or Titebond 3, a very high quality superior wood glue.

The 1.5 and 3mm Austral hoop pine ply we use is of the finest quality and is made from plantation timber grown in Queensland. It is a structural ply and therefore very strong.  Some people say that ply shouldn’t be used in boards because you cannot guarantee that the glue in it will hold. That is one of the main reasons we use Austral ply. It has a 25yr bond guarantee.

All carbon fibre and fibreglass ( unless pressed in our board press )is vacuum laminated ensuring the lowest possible resin to reinforcement ratio. What does this mean? It means that you get the strongest and lightest bond possible, no excess resin in the matrix that does nothing but add weight. The same goes for all of our foamcores.

About Us

Fat Pigeon Longboards started in 2009 when I broke my ankle quite badly. I had 3 months ahead of me with nothing to do. I quickly became very, very bored. I decided I might have a go at building a board. I used this time to read every single thing I could find on board building. I basically read for three months, gaining the knowledge required to build a decent board. The first board was pretty ordinary to say the least, but still very rideable.  I kept at it though and slowly the boards got better in both construction and finish.

All our boards are built in our garage which has been converted into the Fat Pigeon Workshop. We build boards because we love it, and love to see people shredding on our boards. Not to make big bucks.

I have a real job and a family and still  like to get a skate in every now and then too.  So there will be times when there will be a waiting period for your board. Although I will always try my best to get your board to you as quickly as possible. This should become easier this year when we upgrade some workshop machinery and a get our new press.

Hey Steve, is it just my eyes or does the topmount have W cave on it? Do you reckon you could include a concave shot in the next lot of pics you put up?

Cheers.

p.s verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry sweet decks.
Thanks Ben,no the topmount has no w cave, its just the reflection coming off the point at the front. Ok I'll get a concave shot up soon.
The concave on the topmount is excellent and locks both feet in very well. I do think you should do a w cave though Steve, it would be awesome.
What exactly would you guys like in a W cave?

1 A subtle w cave under both feet going the length of the platform

2 A more aggressive w that kind of flattens out under your feet

3 Something else altogether

Let me know what you guys want and I'll do my best
i like an aggressive wave cave, but i dont like square/triangular ones. neeeds to be flowy and 'circular'.
preferably tapering off to the back.
