Eliminators

Thinking of getting new bushings soon, I'm using Venom DHs at the moment, and just was wondering what the aim/type of riding these bushings were developed for. The DHs are super-stable, are the elims just another DH bushing? ie:what differences in riding is there between the two? And what does the stepped design try to achieve?
