ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Well I have just finished the rest of my training and I am now an official fire fighter in the D.E.H (national parks) brigade. During my training I learnt a little something that I thought was quite interesting so I am going to share.

You all know those irritating little blue cats eyes that make a fast run a little more interesting, well they actually have a use. Who knew. If you have a blue cats eye on the side of the centre white line then 90 degrees to that just off the edge of the road is either a fire hydrant or a man whole cover containing fitting so that we can install our own hydrant. So if a fire appliance is driving down the road in thick black smoke with no visibility all they have to do is look for a blue cats eye and that is there water source. Genius huh? I thought that was a kewl little thing to know.

As was stated it depends on which side of centre they are as to which side of the road the hydrant or water point would be.
