Community Designed / Custom longboards
Comet did it with the FSM, now its ASRAs turn to build a cummunity designed board.
The idea of this project is to design a communal mold, something that most people are happy with, whether it be a rockered freeride or topmount speedboard, whatever, then to build custom longboards to your specs from that mold. This means custom shape, flex (if any), wb, width, mounting option, graphics, the whole package.
So go crazy, talk about what works, what you'd like, and hopefully everyone can decide on a final design for the mold which will be produced.
Include;
-concave shape (flatcave, wavecave, W-cave, toecutter etc.)
-amount of concave (?mm)
-rocker/camber/flat, footpockets, wedging
-anything else you can think of, just go crazy, I'll tell you if its not possible
The final product will be for sale, in around 4-5 weeks time (after the design proccess etc) and you will be able to order a completely customized board from this mold. The more buyers, the cheaper the boards, though at the moment the price will be around $100 - $120 for a woody.
There will also be an option to buy an uncut blank form the mold, if that tickles you fancy

I've been doing a bit of work on it, shaping up to be a solid press
got a bit sidetracked with the hollowcore idea, made a few protos for that haha

Time for an update
This is the second board out of the press (first was a test, and this one still needs a graph and a few layers of PU). I'm a bit backed up right now (I've got a few builds in the works) though these will eventually be available.
Ill throw up a concave shot tomorrow

Its built for a lightweight (50kg), so yeah, a little flexy for me, but pretty solid for him (he wanted a stiff (with a touch of flex), topmount freeride, in that shape)

looked a little weird when he first gave me the design, but I've sort of warmed to it. Big nose and tail kicks and the little kick-outs at each end would help stop your foot slipping down the board (maybe?). Its slightly asymmetrical in case you were wondering.

as flexy as you want it to be ;)
the magic of adding / subtracting plys / fiberglass
(this board doesn't have any glass, ply's were sufficient for his needs / budget)
