Im still in beginner stages for speeds over 75kph.  I can do it on both my nemesis and my evo.  I have no problem on either untill I try to stand up to take a wind or foot break.  At that stage, the evo feels a lot more stable under my feet.
Beginner and hitting 75kph?
Fastest i've gone is 65kph and that was the steep side of pumpy.
Must be lots of hills where you live i assume.

by the way, this thread will soon fill up with pages and pages of people's thought and opinions. these will all consist of those people's personal opinion and will be bias to what they like. people will start to tell you "get this board" or "get that board" and then start arguing amongst themselves about which one is better, thats just the way kids on the net work. so dont get yourself confused and divided between which board to get, but instead just go get a board and figure it out... dont waste time watching retards arguing over the internet :)

skate or die

haha ino what concave is and im just new to DH! i do heaps of freeriding and slides so i want to take it to the next level

Haha nice Nic,

Yeah man get to some local sessions and events, that's how I did it. Everyone's very nice and willing to let you test their board (just don't hurt it hahaha).

Otherwise just go into a skateshop, learn what concave is and how it varies in different boards, then just make an educated guess.

Good luck!

Jacko is right (there's no surprise).

Dropped decks (e.g. Evo) put your feet lower than the truck pivot point so there is less work to do keeping the board flat and stable. I ride a Nemesis and I find any topmount puts a lot more strain on my old dodgy ankles just working to keep it flat. I had a massively dropped board before and that was even easier to ride. What you gain in comfort/ease you will lose in response and control.

As far as foot placement goes, comfort will be completely up to the individual - trial-and-error. I personally found the Killswitch (dropped through) to be a magical foot-hugging experience, but that's just me.

Beginner stages for speeds over 75kph (not under).

And No, I have to do some driving to get to those hills.

I have no problem controlling my board and feel very relaxed at 70 and below, but I find that around 80 it starts to get a little funky for me at the moment.  I'm sure that's because I still don't have a lot of experience at that speed.

What I was hinting at was; I find that the evo is a lot more stable when I start pushing myself beyond my comfort levels.
