Have you ever ridden an apex isaac?
yeah have you? cause i tried a dervish at boardshop at the goldie and it was nice. but everyone raves about originals just as much and i like that its not so long. i wouldnt take it above 40k's so the dh trucks and deck length dont bother me. i wont lie the dervish was the best board id ever ridden, its just the originals look so nice.
no, but judging by the original boards I have ridden and the complications with bringing them into Australia. Maybe talk to Ching (i think) who was selling her apex 37. i think she got a dervish, and sold the apex 37, so.....

when you can, in detail, explain to me the difference mahogany stringers make in an apex 37 and why they cause that, then make comments like this, until then, let the dude make up his own mind

edit: the internet makes that sound like im being an ass, it sound different in my head ;)

OK, OK, OK.

I take back what i said. this post isnt about the random original boards, its about the apex 37.

I have never ridden it. so i dont know how it rides.

I apologize for being a dickhead, but thats probably because i love my dervish too much
also, i do sound like a dickhead, but maybe thats because i love my dervish too much. ;P
no no no. i didnt think you sounded bad at all isaac. no need to apologize :) all is well in this thread. and i appreciatte all the info. and tom what is the difference, you sound like a guy who would know :)

i dont know why but everytime i see an original video i start trying to buy one. i guess im easy to sell stuff to. the dervish is great i rodde it a few weeks ago, the original is smaller though; easier to take places like restaurants and school, and seems to be equally good at carving if not better.
yeh, all the original boards look so great in the videos, i was just really disappointed when i rode the malakai 40. wasnt really what i was expecting. Im pretty sure the apex 37 would be a sick board though. go for it. I dunno if anyone has one for sale though, so you might want to ask Isaac (other Isaac on the site), about how he got his original.

oh really :(
how was the malakai?
it didnt really feel right. if felt just too stiff, just like deadwood. That was with paris 180s and khiros, the same that i had on my dervish, which felt way better. the apex is similar, so im pretty sure it would ride about the same.

Ching sold both her Derringer 28 and Dervish, and Gilbert sold his Apex 37 a long time ago.

yeah i got a 28inch arbor pocket rocket. now i want the ultimate cruiser carver :) just read a really informative thread on silverfish. seems good if anyone wants an understanding of the board : http://www.silverfishlongboarding.com/forum/longboarding-resources-...
remember that sf threads start at the last page not the first.
in short:
While the board is about 90% aspen (which is a very light wood, and would generally have a dead flex), original has integrated mahogany (harder stiffer wood) stringers which they claim (<--key word) have been placed in appropriate positions so as to not only strengthen the board, but to change the flex, specifically the rebound making it more responsive.

If scott knows his stuff he will have placed the mahogany stringers in appropriate positions as to achieve this, and made a giant leap in board technology over single material decks

It is worth noting that scott and brad began original with what their parents intended to be their college funds

It is also worth noting that original is the 15th most subscribed sports channel on youtube, so they're doing something right.
i had the apex 37, it broke after just a month of riding it. original took like 3-4 months to replace it, all the while giving me the run around on and this wasn't a special case, it happened to quite a few ppl . original has since redid the apex 37 giving it wider stringers, its definitely a little more solid now (i sold mine to an asra member). the trucks are fun for awhile but are a pain in the ass to maintain. After my experience with them and their products i never want to have anything to do with original ever again. just my 2 cents, get a dervish :)

ps: jack, you can change your thread settings on sf so that the first posts start on the first page.
