ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

JUST SPOTTED THIS ON SKATEBOARD.COM.AU so I uploaded to here for more relevant updates or news... anyone ?

Just read this on the Courier Mail website. I didn't personally know him, but a death in skateboarding is family. RIP Anthony.

A BRISBANE filmmaker is dead after a downhill skateboarding accident on the Tweed Valley Way just north of Burringbar.
Anthony Fricker, 22, died in the Gold Coast Hospital early Sunday from head injuries he received in the accident about 5pm on Friday.

Tweed police duty officer Insp Jim Kain said Mr Fricker and a 28-year-old man were skating down a steep section of the road and reached speeds of 70km/h before they collided, the Gold Coast Buleltin reports

The 28-year-old was not seriously injured.

Insp Kain said the pair were with a small support crew who were filming a documentary.

Mr Fricker had emergency neurosurgery at Gold Coast Hospital and was placed on life support. It was turned off Sunday morning.

Mr Fricker was the creator of the website Skate Australia and a documentary of the same name which followed extreme downhill skaters on a trip around the country

There's already a tribute page on this site. We are all devastated by the loss of such a great friend to those who knew him and fellow skater and filmmaker to those who didn't.
I think it is important to know what kind of helmet he was wearing be it aero, mountain bike or motor bike.
Id like to know more about the helmet too. I think it has implications for all of us.
A great response to the article, Robbo. ASRA's attitude to rider safety and education is well known, and totally worthwhile. As to discussions about the type of helmet Anton was wearing, I don't think a public forum is the place for it as it's obvious that there will be those who will missconstrude what is said. Leave it to private conversations within the Gravity community. Now is the time for us to pull together, support Anton's family and friends in any way we can and remember what an amazing young man he is and what he has done for skateboarding in Australia, and what his brilliant videos will do for us in the future.
