Event Description

Hornsby Industrial Estate is the test facility for a full blown attempt at drift longboarding.

What is it?

Racing down a steep wide hill between cones, cardboard banks and through gates, in slalom and head to head racing.

Speeds over 70, thane lines over 20m, maximum level of stoke and adrenaline.

Gear

Ride whatever wheels you want. I was going to ban square-lipped wheels but a set of dusted InHeats will rock on this track and plenty of sideways action will still be going down.

Rego

$20 entry.

Rider Limits

  • Opens: 32
  • Womens: 8

What else?

Heaps of give aways, beer and bbq all day.

ASRA points awarded!!!

I'm keen as mustard to kick some ass and will post a demo video of the track and idea.

kieran did you read anything above or below?, there will be lots of sliding, the only way through the cones will involve sliding, and sliding fast hence the term "drifting", not railing down the course. if people start griping to much il ajust the course to suit, if there sliding too much and slowing down we can fix that too.

bonus is theres no gaurd rails, gutters, cateyes, trees to hit on this course, you will need to slide into and around corners, but if you screw up you slide only off the course no off the road. :)

Do you have to slide or can you just go down through the cone?

rego isnt up yet jarred, working on it now.

checked the hill out yesterday with kam, steeper then i remember, found a few good backups too, we are leaning towards 2 sections of really drifting hard, one midway though first corner followed by some GS into another in the steepest bit near the finish and GS to the line.

as far as format, im working to find a truck or trailer to carry people uphill, if i can guarantee quick return the a slalom event will be held in the morning and  32man (2-man heats) single elim after lunch, asra ranking will seed, and will push for both ASRA slalom rankings and ASRA downhill ranking points awarded on the day.

if you enter both you will get a discount on entry fee and all that extra practice in slalom before racing starts.

sounds good hey, will have a look around for the video, sounds a bit complicated and messy though, like more marshals and shit too top watch all the corners.

, the idea with this one is speed, there will be 3 bomb sections allmost like GS style into a small tight section that will require sliding in and through, imagine a quick heelside toeside, heelside then bomb, toeside heelside toeside, bomb.

instead of cones im building some larger objects to dodge, built out of cardboard and shit,

heres , the hill mega steep and fast but easy as.

Should have some vertical gates that you can go through from either direction.

i love the idea, pitty im still all messed up. they did somethin similar in tassie a few years back  troll the videos for it, think they had points for the each slide that had some effect on overall time??? 1-5 point score fore each slide gate and 2 second off the time for a 5 supper steezy switch standie and half a second off for a little chirp of a hands down check????? just putting an idea out there.
