Update - will now be 4 man heats due to less complicated heat / scoring system.

yes mezz, short straight hill evens up the competition,..dont think theres much draft advantage on this hill.i lke the idea of chicanes, but not sure about it at the pumpy....if the gate is narrow enough that someone is forced to break tuck to drop back to second in order to miss the cones/gate, their race is over....this would happen all the time, especially when side by side in the top section,so yeh the guy with the slight edge coming into the chicane can just pull a line so that the other rider has to drop in behind to miss it therefore giving them no chance of catching....

the original idea was to create more of a pinch point rather then anything too sharp that would slow people down. you do raise an interesting point. we have a bit of time to try a few different things out before the race and see what works. I think it has to be before the first set of corners because the top straight needs something to mix it up and at the campsite campsite corner the person behind already has the draft advantage.

Push and shuv through the corners. Bottle neck it up just make it a recipe for carnage. I like carnage.

What's the purpose of the chicane? How will it affect the race?

I reckon it'll encourage people to get in behind each other rather than staying side-by-side. Is that a good thing?

Most of the time the person who pushes out in front stays in front - passing opportunities are limited at the Pump Station. Could the chicane/cones be used to somehow give the person behind a small advantage? How about a cone that only the person in front has to go around? You could put it in the middle of the road at the campground corner - the race leader would have to take a slightly wide line, while the people behind could take the faster inside line. You could have a similar cone on the first left corner as well. It could make for interesting tactics.

Just throwing out some ideas here...don't know how it would work in practice...
