Right on Oliver.

When we ran that last charity race at BHC, some people gave more for their rego because it was for Camp Quality. This wouldn't happen if the money was going to prizes. I was really happy that the local riders were so generous.

I think giving money to a charity is an excellent idea! If people don't want to come because they might not get enough prize money, then that's their problem. Last time I checked, longboarding was about having fun and hanging out with mates.

As Beet said, this event wasn't ever expected to be big in terms of competition. it is more of an event for groms to get some track time and if dudes interstate wanna join in on the fun then so be it.

I wasn't having a go at you Jacko and the only reason i singled you out as the winner is because the competition is gonna be groms. however that competition won't even be there if they can't afford it.

Charity.

I do believe we can do something positive for those less fortunate than ourselves. It might help some people out there that are really doing it tough, plus from the point of view of public perception, if we work for some charities with our events,   maybe,.... just maybe.... we might get some positive reaction for our actions.

Last year I went to Merricks birthday event in QLD. He listed it as a charity event, but when some pesky neighbor showed up and started causing trouble we tried to explain we were raising money for charity. Unfortunately Merricks charity was his high school prom, so we lied.

Cops rolled up and Mr XXXXX told them we were a Christian group raising money for charity, and they were happy enough to let us continue.

After that event, I made a promise to myself that if I put together any events from this point on I would have a legit charity involved. (plus I actually donated money to a legit charity on the events behalf). It might help us legitimise what we are doing to the cops, but more importantly, we would be doing something good for our local community, and people who don't have lives as good as ours.

Its good karma, and when you think about it, there are really people out there that deserve money more than us.

I am putting this event on on the spirit of the Monkypig boys events in QLD. Its a fun get together. We get together to share stoke. Cash and prizes are a bonus, but not why we do what we do.

I have no worries about filling up spots, we will have enough riders.

Also like Matty said, there IS a middle ground. U just gotta figure where that it.

It's mattys event, it's his rules. But people are entitled to their two cents to offer fair direction. Sorry if I sounded arrogant

There are other people who race really well and don't make money, but spend money to get there. They are the people I skate with and the people who would benefit greatly from winning cash prizes, and quite frankly I believe have a great chance of being a winner at any race.

All I was doing was making a suggestion
