Event Description

Early morning freeride down the hill.

  • If you can't take on hill climb with ease, stay away.
  • If you can't foot brake or slide at speed, stay away.
  • If you don't wish to wear a helmet, pads and gloves, stay away.
  • If you have trouble staying in your lane, stay away.
  • If you think I'm an ass... Stay Away :p

Now that is sorted... I have in the pipeline a full fledge road shut down, haybaled, leather fullface wearing, point scoring race!

So, donations towards that would be welcome, but completely up to you!  I would however prefer donations of time when it does happen and for any help along the way you could offer.

Format

  1. Get there at 5am - The gate will be closed
  2. Walk to the top and shred down to the bottom.  Repeat.
  3. 6am - Start doing car trips up until the traffic gets to intense.
  4. 9am - If I still haven't made any headway with the very helpful council that sends me in loops by then, storm the council fortress with skaters and demand a straight answer from them!

Any other suggestions I will take into consideration!

Total Distance:
2.00km | 1.24mi

Starting Altitude:
191m | 627ft

Finishing Altitude:
59m | 194ft

Average Gradient: 6.6%

Elevation Loss: 132m | 433ft

Surface Type:
Smooth Bitumen / Asphalt (Not so smooth now)

Making headway with the legit race.

Now have someone who knows what they are doing with maps on the team!

There should be some activity with the council and police soon enough, if we can cause as much of a disturbance at once, they will give in eventually!!!!

The hills was SICK!!! a couple of stacks, nothing too bad.

Tom Smith was getting some speed going by the end of the day and had a couple of really tight runs, three people side by side through a corner at one point, all in the same lane I might add!

fact is the public (especially councils) don't like skateboarders. so when they hear of skateboarders trying to organise a skateboard RACE down a PUBLIC street, no one is keen to facilitate the idea at all.

thats what the charity idea is for. flowering event with sponsors is one thing, but councils will struggle to ignore any event supported by a charity.

Yeah, i know about that angle, but every penny is going to go to making a race happen. If we actually put it on, there will most likely be charity money raised through attendence to get locals there and happy about it, but we should be able to put on an event just like any other sport without putting a different face on... Bull riding is more dangerous, but they have an astralian series happening.
I have been at the council for over 6 months and they haven't heard the half of me. This race will go on or there will be an outlaw. Then the race will go on. Don't worry, they will fold at some point. Already got crap from the wishard ward and it's their turn to get crap from me on monday, it will be recorded and possibly broadcasted.

Tim, I was talking to a Sargent from a police station at a party recently who is involved in events. He said if you want to organise any event, make it for a charity and in most cases they will approve it. With political correctness these days and such, they are very concerned about offending any type of group - especially a charity. Just get everyone involved to give a donation and decide on the charity you want to support - it has to be a legit one.
