With the possibility of no Bernie at the ditch,

i will have to put all my physical effort into the ditch,

so no march for me.

Latest UPDATE.

Organisers have decided to leave skaters off the program this year!

They really wanted a highly organised club to show up at the appointed time, and follow their leader.....

Of course we all know skaters dont do organised clubs...ever!

Which frees you all up for THE DITCH!

OK, so got more info.

For those that want to attend the March, meet at the corner of Swanston St and Bourke St at about 9:15am on Australia DAy.

Ask the marshalls for Carolyn Best, and she will tell you what to do.

It will be pretty tame, but you could get on the TV!

possibly all evening News reports.....specially if you trip and your board flys out from under you, and hits on of the dear old ladies from the womens auxilliary!

OK,

What all that means is that it is a MARCH.

Assemble at 9:15am, raise the flag, March down to the gardens.

This is a good opportunity to showcase long boarding, but it I doubt that it will provide much high speed fun unless we can get you to the start of the march.

I will explain the lack of brakes etc!

Please confirm that you still want to attend, as i will need to fill out some paperwork!

Dear Fellow Victorian

2012 Australia Day: Our Day Our March

On Australia Day 2012 (Thursday January 26th) the Australia Day Committee would like to introduce a brand new Australia Day People’s March concept - 2012 Australia Day: Our Day Our March.

Our Day Our March encourages Victorians to come together on Australia Day to promote Our Rich Culture and Our Diverse Community. We are asking communities, groups and organizations to participate in the 2012 Australia Day: Our Day Our March. The March will follow the Flag Raising ceremony at 10:30am, and will be along Swanston Street to Kings Domain Gardens.

The People’s March has been a feature of Australia Day for the last 10 years. In 2011 we had a record number of participants with 3,000 people marching down Swanston Street into Kings Domain Gardens.  In 2012 the Australia Day Committee of Victoria wishes to introduce a brand new Australia Day: Our Day Our March concept to further embrace and reflect the many faces that make up our community and the multicultural character of Australia and Victoria. We’re asking you to Dress to Express Our heritage as part of Our Australia.

We are also putting an emphasis on Our Hobby, Our Sports, Our Culture, Our Religion, Our Lifestyle and Our Achievements.

In order to make Our Day Our March a great event to watch as well as to participate in, participants need to register with the Australia Day Committee, so that numbers, music and the nature of the participating groups can all be coordinated and planned. To register your interest, please complete the enclosed form and return, at your earliest convenience, to the address indicated.

I can think of no better way to express our national pride and cohesion of all the many communities that make up our great country.

Yours sincerely

Alison Fraser

,
I am waiting for more info from Committee of Melbourne.
They sent VSA a request to get some skaters in the parade, just before Christmas.
Should have some info Monday, when they are back at work.
