The 2014 Yarra Ranges Downhill Festival will be the National Championships for Downhill Skateboard racing in 2014. A new champ will be crowned.
What can you expect?
It will be a day of fast downhill skateboard racing on one of Melbourne's best hills, a 2.9 km section of Mt Donna Buang, Warburton.
Up to 64 riders will be reaching speeds of 85 km/h as they tuck for 3 minutes down the winding road wearing full face helmets and racing leathers.
The event will be free for spectators and involve a slalom comp, freeride sessions and mini market. Food from local producers will be available with music from young local artists being performed throughout the day.
Sponsors
As usual Mac's Skate Shop will be on location to sort you out for new wheels and bearings to give you the winning edge. You will also be able to check out the new BrakeBoard in action. Also supporting the event with some mad prizes are Landyatchz, Bear Trucks and Hawgs. Check them all out below.

Volunteers
We are going to need a bunch of volunteers to make the event happen. All volunteers will receive lunch, drinks, stickers and have the chance to enter a randomly drawn prize on the day. There are a number of roles available including Track Marshals, Traffic Marshals, Transport Marshals and race assistants. Anyone interested in volunteering please contact Vols.YRDF@gmail.com for more information.
Downhill Riders have the option to volunteer before and after the race or both to help out with hay bales. A PayPal refund of up to $20 will be given to riders after the event for volunteering.

Thanks to everyone that came up to Mt Donna Buang for the National Downhill Skateboard Racing Championships on Sunday in terrible conditions. Another successful Yarra Ranges Downhill Festival thanks to all the hard, cold and wet work from the amazing volunteers. Also a massive thank you to the sponsors that supported the event, Mac's Skate Shop, Landyachtz, Brakeboard, Heelside Mag, Bear Trucks, Hawgz Wheels, Arctic Boyz, Loaded, Pro-Tec, TSG, Lush, Orangatang, Sector 9, Mudjimba Cruisers and Venom. he's reigning champ! save Jacko a spot!
Yep leathers are required Daniel Roth, and as Dan mentioned it we will be using the IDF rule book.
Theres a high chance it will sell out from what I've heard Jacko. Sorry no way of us saving you a place.
No worries Jarryd.
