Brake with both feet to the front and side in the straight line braking situation, and only the "outside" foot on a corner, ie, right foot down in a left corner, etc. The other thing, which might save you a trip to the hospital, is DON'T put your feet directly in front of the board when you brake...you hook up your foot and you'll snap your ankle.
