i guess it all depends on how the wheel wears down. If its still round and smooth to ride once they get that far down then i suppose keep riding them till theres nothing left, however if you wear em down and they start to oval or form a flatspot, then they are done. I know o-tangs feel epic to slide but i would never ride them to the core for that reason, they get far enough down and the wear pattern isnt durable and they become wobbly. If you have a set of wheels that wear down perfectly even then i suppose thats a good reason to ride em to the core, also if you dont have endless amounts of wheels i could understand riding them to the core.
i have also never cored a set of wheels, for the reason they feel shitty once they get close. also the fact i get em for free theres no point in putting myself in danger just for the glory of core-riding :)
If however i did find a set of wheels that rode that smooth all the way down, perhaps i would core them?

those wheels , however, do seem to have worn very nicely! i wonder how long it took? do they ride nice? ive ridden Tsunamis before, the smaller version, and i wasnt a big fan. they felt slow... i have not tried these ones and am interested in how they perform...

sickest wheel. They did feel a bit sluggish but i suppose i was going slide-ways most of the time so it didnt matter BUT THE SLIDE. OH. soooooo goooood. Feels slightly like classic thane in 78a but slides way further. It may be 85a but it is oh so buttery.

They do feel slow, but the slide feels good.  I would probably just use them for a shortboard and take that sideways.
