Hey man have you tested this out, like dropped it down a run?
Any tips if i made one?

Yeah man it works fine, its a little bulky but you dont really notice. Its gone down stairs and into walls and gutters and the camera is fine.
Watch the Loaded fig rig tutorial, that'll give you a general idea of how to start, then design something that suits you.

How did you secure the camera to the base?

Go buy a baseplate for a tripod from a camera shop, 10 bucks, then go wild with epoxy and bolts.
