To all the groms out there (myself included) could you pros explain the difference between slalom/freestyle/freeride/DH longboarding and what type of boards you want for each? Thanks guys!

Slalom = wiggle through some cones. use what ever board you want. Slalom Nerds will want a special slalom board (short deck, narrow trucks, grippy wheels)

Freestyle= do what ever you want, mostly tricks. Use what ever board you want. freestyle nerds will want a Freestyle board (varies)

Freeride= longboarding in a non competative way. Use what ever board you want, if you nerd out to freeriding, you need help.

DH= bit of a no brainer really, Downhill. but usually refers to bombing hills at high speed, racing and such. Use what ever board you want. DH nerds will want a stiff board, slack geometry trucks, and wheels that have good combination of grippyness and slideyness.

To be honest mate, its all skateboarding, and as such there are no rules, you can use what ever board you want for whatever style you want. Obviously certain set ups work better for certain things, but try not to get caught up in defining things. Skate and have fun. The rest is circumstantial. Wear a helmet.

Peace.

Can't improve on that bro
