ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Ok, I thought I'd take this opportunity to warn the guys who are coming to BtB10 that haven't ridden this hill about what to expect.

This hill is a technical challenge and you will need to be able to brake and drift to get through it.

As this is a freeride and not a race there will not be haybales all down the course, some of the nastiest corners will be baled, but there will be heaps of spots that if you stuff up you will get really badly hurt.

Anyone caught racing will be not be allowed to ride again, and this decision will be final.

If you are under 18 you will be expected to have your parent or a suitable guardian with you to sign the waiver form at registration. If you are having someone other than your parent with you, we need something from your parent accepting that this person is responsible for you.

This is a serious but fun event, however any immature or dangerous behaviour will not be tolerated.

I'm sure more will come to me as I think more about it

I cant wait to ride this hill!!!!!!!!! :)
Hey Ado
Just a quick question, on the forms it's saying 17 years to sign. Is this also the age for the waiver or is it 18 years???
Thanks
Ohhh indeed good question from Jordan. Because I will be 17 by the time of the event. Can I just sign it myself if I'm 17 on the day???
Just checked with Mic and the waiver form has to be signed by someone 18 or over, so anyone under 18 will need a parent or guardian, sorry.
To easy!!!!!
if its not a race what is it? just a fun event where everyone gets to go down the hill?
jsut wondering

thankya
whats goin on with the photos on the website? sick airbreaking shots! *cough*
can u footbreak? do you know how to carve off speed? what you want to do is get out on your skateboard and really get the feel for slowing down by carving, and only footbreaking when you have to. Carving off speed is a really efficient way to stay in control, if you keep your balance and your weight centered you will be supprised how hard and tight you can throw in quick carves/slashes and really bring down the speed. also getting to know the track helps, where you can go fast, where you need to slow down, what parts feel hectic, all those sorts of things. What you want to do is follow people down the hill, watch their lines, look for where they break and slow down to get an idea of what lines to take.
see u on the hill mate

Thanks for reminding me, Adolf.

I've ridden my buttboard down Mt Stuart a fair bit over the last 12 months. I know it is a very technical and unforgiving course.

Having big rubber brake soles and lying down on a classic luge has saved me from a number of near catastrophes.

At BTB this year I'd like to have a go at doing some stand-up. Not trying to go mega fast, just want to build my stand-up skills.

Are there any experienced riders out there who would be willing to spare a bit of time at BTB to give a 43 year old skating tragic a few tips / traps about riding down the hill?

Hopefully I won't interfere with your skating too much. I just want a hand getting started and a bit of coaching.

Any help greatly appreciated.
