ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

I'm traveling to South America with my brothers over Christmas to visit family in Argentina (Buenos Aires, Salta, Cordoba) , were hitting Peru (Lima & Cusco) and Brazil (Rio & Paraty) afterwards for a total stay of eight weeks; definitely time enough for some shredding.  I was hoping to get some advice from people who have skated or visited any of these cities, it would be much appreciated as its my first time in South America and i don't wanna crash and bleed to death on the back of a donkey on the way to a vet because there are no doctors.  What should i avoid, can i take my board on carry-on luggage, can i just buy a board there for 3 pesos, what side of the road they drive on? anything.  Safety is always my main concern and i know it will be a different scene to our roads in Australia, so please don't berate me about the dangers i might face, just help me prepare for them.

Thanks!

Hey, Rob and I we are going to South America from the 29th of september until the 5th march, we would be travelling to Chile and Argentina. Dude your not going to the end of the world, they will be doctors everywhere prob more than in Oz and good! you will find heaps of local board companies and a massiove crew, so its up to you if you want to take your own board i would recommend you to do it.... just put in parts and thats it iots like taking it to any place. They are few races too, the igsa world cup in peru, igsa world champ in brazil, igsa reg in chile ....and heaps of more local races ....here is the link to the crew in peru through facebook http://es-la.facebook.com/downhillordie and http://www.dhordie.com/ im pretty sure you find in facebook the Argentinian and Brazilian one. South America drives on right side of the road. Be careful dude we got massive hills cause we got the Andes!! and crazy drivers so i will recommend you to contact local crews and/or us and follow the locals and their advice. Enjoy the amazing food (although is normal if you get sick the first weeks) and take it easy  maybe a great advice would be learn some spanish...

Have a good one and let us know if you need any more info.
