ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

so story is,

tonight we were having our carpark session, had a heap of runs, then boom seco jumps out at me from a corner, swings for my head (smart bloke obviously, hope my helmet hurt his hand) and connected with it. and No I did not swing back at him.

this was the first contact that we had with the security guards, now I'm pretty sure that all he is allowed to do is ask us to leave which we did, am I correct in assuming this?

Sorry Tony have to agree to disagree on this one

Surely you will end up in jail / should end up in jail

Quoted for truth, straight up don't take that shit, next time cunt punches you in the head hit the cunt with your board and peace out. This is skateboarding, take shit into your own hands, don't even try and sue you won't get anywhere with it.

Get your own back man. Fuck going to court. That's bad, bad, bad. There will be people who will be on his side if it goes that far and he can lie and say it wasn't like that unless you have proof.

I had the same thing with security in the maritime museum. Instead of calling the police or asking us NICELY not to skate they took matters into their own hands and tried to push me off my board as I was skating 'the loop' where the busses pull up outside. The guy tried to clothesline me and kinda did but not very well as I mainly copped hairy, sweaty fore-arm to the chops at 30km/h and stayed on. With my mouth slightly bleeding I then proceeded to skate rings around the guy. Every time he would try and kick my wheels or stick his arms out in a 'T' I would duck or move and laugh at his attempts. (It actually became quite fun, seeing if I could skate past him whilst he tried to kill me!) He was middle aged and fat and not very agile at all and was soon out of breath.

I abused him and tormented him for the next 10 minutes always just out of his reach. Finally he decides he's not going to get his fat fucking sausage hands on me he calls the cops. I waited for them to turn up and as soon as they did I skated away from the scene and went to another carpark. The initial anger I had from him trying to push me off turned into satisfaction because he became the angry, frustrated one. Maybe that's not the 'proper' way to handle things but it sure made me feel good.

Critical Mass on a certain carpark sounds like fun
I didn't see a sign out the front of the last carpark i went to that said longboarders welcome. Hello speed limit 10km/hr cars reversing security etc maybe a punch to the head unnecessary but you really have no right to be there .As in another post every citizen can become a cop and restrain if they believe that person will cause harm or endanger himself. Easy defense being the guard thought you would endanger other carpark users.  Cop it on the chin and move on.
There is restraining somebody with reasonable force and there is common assault, those 2 things are football fields apart. Most security guards I have dealt with are relatively cool and our interactions are very civil. Than you just have guys that like to punch people. These are the same people that punch kids in the street, crack heads open out the front of night clubs, bash their wife at home and just generally enjoy hitting people. Sometimes some dickhead gives these guys a security license and he gets to work doing what he likes to do. Occasionally you come across somebody like this and its not always a security guard

Luca takes the cake, wish I had of seen it, and I would take his approach if we had more carparks we were able to session, but everywhere in newy shuts gates or rollerdoors so I value the site too much to want to piss the guards off. So  I'm with Bernie on this stance,

"As to whinging to the cops, or the security company about a little pat on your helmetted head....do that and you will create life long enemies, that will make recommendations to the building owners in relation to speed humps and the like to deal with what they will say is a plague of mouthy little vandals."

my question was not so much what should I do or how should I handle the situation, I was happy with how I handled it.

I just wanted to confirm that he fucked up, and that it would ultimately be classified as him going beyond the call of duty.

is this statement correct?

"all he is allowed to do is ask us to leave"

if this doesnt work he is meant to call the police.

For sure, Phil. There is no way in hell he can take a swipe at your head like that and be within any kind of legal definition of doing the right thing. That is so clearly out of line.

here you come law suit!

Renta cops, security guards whoever, can't confiscate gear, look through personal belongings or make contact with patron on the property. Law says so.

Calling for law suits for a pat on the head.....Get real!

Cops won't support you, cause you are trespassing.

Slater&Gordon - not interested, nothing in it for them, and the injury needs to be serious to get those ambulance chasers out of the pub.

and

I seriously doubt that any of your parents will shell out the readies to mount a civil action.

In fact some parents are probably quietly cheering the guard for attempting to deliver a swift kick up the arse, like cops used to do back in my day. And so what if they are wife beaters, at least you are not the one hanging their jocks on the clothes line.

pause, count to 5 .....wait for howls of indigation......finished???

Yes of course it is without question an outrageous assualt, and that guard was so far out of line that he may as well have been over in Canada coping a good ol' head trucking from Tony Graves, but ask yourselves if that kind of thing might be just a little bit better than wrecking a kids life by dragging them through the courts for some bullshit trespassing charge, which by the way would probably stop travel to places like USA.

Unfortunately anyone brung up under the sunny skies of universal civil rights would not dare think such a thing was possible, far less state, that a swift kick up the arse is often better than a criminal record.

pause ...count to 3.....wait for howls of indigation......finished ???

happily I scored the a well placed kick up the arse, from a proper Policeman, that really did look after the youf of my area.  I am still happy to thank the cop for sorting me out....thanks Sgt Bacon...ya prick!

I tell ya it's  way cheaper and far less painful to buy your local rent-a-cops a slab of cans every so often!

Of course if you really want to consol them for being too fat and useless to be real cops, buy em a really big box of doughnuts!

To anyone calling for court action, and expecting big compensation payouts.........ya dreaming!

Phil has worked it out.

just for the record we're not kids, all 3 people skating that day were in their early to late 20's and safe polite skaters.

fuck coping that shit on the chin, security guard will be coping it on the chin if that kind of shit happens again, totally uncalled for.

the way I see it, you gota keep it between just you and the guard, and yeah I woulda let worse than that slide with out a complaint, still gota make sure that the guard knows that you know he fucked up though, and make him stress enough that he isn't game to tell anyone he works with / for about what actually happened. cause as soon as anyone beyond the guard knows that there was skaters in the carpark, skateing it wont be as easy.
next time he hits you it'll be 1vs 3+, that will surely teach him a lesson. or just knock him down and steal his shoes. hahaha
