Hi there,
I've just started snowboarding this season. Since snow season is over, I thought longboarding would be good practice until next years season! I bought a longboard, but haven't used it yet so I'm a complete newbie!
Any advice on how and where to start?
I live in South-East melbourne!

Welcome. I also started longboarding as a "snowboarding in summer" thing. There's similarities, but some big differences. In snowboarding it's hard to carve a turn and easy to skid one, while in longboarding it's the opposite.
First thing - get slide gloves. Find the Melburn crew. Go to Springvale ditch tomorrow night.
Can I show up for the Springvale ditch and watch? haha I don't think I'd be good enough to really do anything yet!!

Sure, come along. No better way to spend a Friday night than in a drainage ditch.
Katie,
There is something about the angle of the banks that makes Snowboarders rule at springvale ditch!
You will love it!
If you need a lift to the ditch, let us know.
Put a post on the Springvale ditch tomorrow night event page and we can help you out!
Troy from MAc's in Moorabbin will be there, so we can introduce you and get him to put you on his specials list for skate and snow gear.
If you dont feel like skating it is also a bit of a party!
whats the address for Springvale Ditch? I'm not sure I know what that is! haha. I've got a dinner party at 6. Can I rock up about 7-8ish?
It's here:
Corner of Springvale Rd and Lenore St, about 1 km from Springvale station (12 minute walk, 5 minute skate).
OK I'm confused now... "Clive St and Centre Road" or "Springvale Rd and Lenore St" they're two diff areas?
Bernie's right and I'm wrong. Clive St/Centre Rd is the place.
