Most hated scene??

My friend Casey wants to get into the longboarding/freeride scene. We know what setup he wants to get (Rayne Hellcat, Randals) and he has the money. But there is only one thing holding him back. My other stupid scooter fag friend Jeremy is the only one stopping Casey from getting a longboard. His main arguments are :

1) Longboarders are the most (or one of the most) hated riders in the community

2) We'd get laughed at if we took our longboards to the skatepark (?)

3) You can't do 'Hang Tens' and 'Ollies' on longboards

Casey seems convinced. I need your opinions. Are longboarders really hated compared to BMX's, Scooters, Skaters, Rollerbladers etc?

Your friend rides a scooter. His argument is invalid.

But really, who cares about hate if you're having fun? Fact of the matter is most kids at the skate park hate anyone that isn't riding the same thing as them so there is always going to be some element of that. BMXers kids hate skater kids, hate roller bladers and vice versa. This only seems to be in the younger people at the park from what I've noticed, a lot of the older dudes are there to chill out and have a sweet time no matter what they're riding be it a board, bike or fangled wheeled shoe. Untill some scooter kid drops in on you while you're skating the bowl... everyone hates scooters...

And if you care more about skating park and doing tricks maybe a hellcat isn't the best choice...

from my experiences skating longboarding , bmxing
people at skatepark dislike bmx cause they "controll "
and scooter , will scooters .... need less to say ?

you r friend casey shouldnt worry about what people will think anyway
yes of course people would have a giggle if we take our boards to skate parks most people dont but there is a forum on here for people that do , i personlly have bowl riding is fun .. on your last section "hang ten's " and "ollies " are both verry possible , maybe harder .. but possible and can be done

your last sentence is verry stupid though

your asking a longboarder comunity on there opinion of coursed we will be biased for a Non-Biased opinion you would like survey an area or something
much like standing in front of coles and asking people if they like to shop at coles.....(my math teacher taught me that one :D)

Dude, I ride my board surf style im my local skate park (I live in one of the most bogan areas in Queensland = everyone rides scooters) and everyone just stops and watches then asks for a go. Jeremy needs to learn that being 'cool' isn't all that is to live for otherwise he will be the most hated rider.

People respond better to a longboarder with helmet and gloves than a scooter kid looking seedy...

and as for tricks, you can do much better than just ollies! I ride the banks and slide the back wheels around them, surf the semi-bowl we have, drift around all the stuff everyone uses to grind. I can say that I know more tricks at a skate park than any scooter kid that I know there.

Tell Casey to stop trying to be cool and start living! The coolest people in life are the ones who don't follow the crowd!

If you or your friend are taking advice on what to ride from a scooter kid, you have serious problems that need to be addressed.

Seek professional help on this one. ASRA can't fix what's wrong.

No we dont care about skating park. In fact, were completely opposed to it!! As i mentioned earlier- we freeride! we couldnt give a shit about doing hang 10's or whatever, we have the need for speed. This is what makes Jeremy's arguments all the more sillier!!
